Description

A very rare Ron Thorn work has arrived as a consignment second-hand item!
This is a pre-owned Early 67 Custom Telecaster with a candy apple red finish and double binding that is so thin you can see the grain of the ash wood.

Although he was only appointed Master Builder in 2018, this guitar has already earned the title of "Principal," indicating the highest level of recognition. It's a masterpiece by Ron Thorn, who later served as Director of the Custom Shop. Unfortunately, Ron has since left Fender, so this is a must-have for fans of his work.

This guitar was inspired by a 1967 Custom Telecaster (3CS) featured in the Norman's Rare Guitars collection book. While the original '67 model featured a transition logo on the headstock, the featured guitar "uses the spaghetti logo from a Custom Telecaster that was left at the factory," recreating that unique design. Ron Thorn's Instagram account also notes that the logo is not covered with a clear coat, as is typical of the model and history, but is instead simply glued onto the headstock.

Ash was chosen for the body, and it comes in Journeyman Relic specification with a nice texture given by cracking, checking, and dents.
While metallic finishes tend to be thick, this guitar's ultra-thin finish allows the ash grain to show through, delivering an open, dry, terry tone the moment you strike the strings. The AAA-grade birdseye maple neck and round-laminated rosewood fingerboard not only create a luxurious appearance, but also add richness to the low-mids, resulting in a superb tone with sweet overtones that seem to bubble up from deep within the instrument, delighting players.
It may be a cliché, but this instrument gives you the comforting feeling of "the wood is resonating properly." This is the unique charm of an instrument made by master craftsman Ron Thorn. Once you hold this instrument in your hands, you'll nod in agreement.

The neck shape is a 60 Style Oval C, which is neither too thin nor too thick and is known for its ease of playability, the frets are narrow-tall 6105 size, and the fingerboard radius is 7.25 inches, adding a grip feel that is easy to play and a sense of clarity to the sound without sacrificing the vintage nuance of the tone.

The pickups are a combination of hand-wound Texas Specials (neck) and '67 Teles (bridge) by Josefina. The neck pickup provides a mellow, punchy tone, while the bridge pickup adds a bright, forward tone to the instrument's stunning resonance, delivering depth and dimension to the amp. This warm, musical, analog-like sound, without being mechanical, is reproduced without losing the player's nuances, making it the true joy of using houndwound pickups.

It's in excellent condition, showing signs of having been played with great care, and there's no sign of wear such as worn frets, making it a safe, used instrument. It looks great, but the sound of the instrument itself is simply amazing! Don't miss out!
