Description

Legends of Fuzz Series

In the late 1960s, Japan was brimming with excellent guitar pedal manufacturers and innovation.
Around the same time, one of the most popular and hard-to-find effects pedals was the Univox Super-Fuzz.
This octave fuzz pedal transforms single notes and chords into a thick, scorching texture, and its high octave-up sound when played with distorted tones has attracted attention.
It was initially released as part of a large, amp-head-sized multi-effects unit called the Honey Psychedelic Machine (1967), but a few months later it was re-released as a standalone pedal called the Honey* Baby Crying Effect.
Immediately after Honey's bankruptcy, the products were rebranded as Shin-Ei, and by 1968, Shin-Ei had become a major brand in Japanese guitar pedals. While producing Shin-Ei brand effects, they also OEM-manufactured the same circuits for dozens of other brands, including Shaftesbury, Kent, Crown, Jax, and Univox from the United States.
This is how this circuitry became integrated into the product lineups of brands worldwide.
Thanks to product placement by Pete Townsend of The Who, the Univox Unicord Super-Fuzz version became more famous than other versions.
Initially, it featured a simple, understated gray metal enclosure (1968), but it was redesigned in 1970 with a large rectangular footpad on the top surface inscribed with "SUPER-FUZZ" for a more eye-catching appearance.
You could also choose from color combinations such as Red/Blue, Black/Grey, and White/Black.
Supreme has created an authentic replica of the extremely rare White/Black model of the Super-Fuzz from Josh Scott's collection.
While all the early versions of this pedal are remarkably similar, this 1972 unit has a special magic that sets it apart from the others.
Imagine Octavia Fuzz being in a bad mood all morning.
This is the pedal. It's a loud, screaming, intensely powerful octave fuzz.
