The "Master Luthier Series," handcrafted by Eastman's top artisans, is a one-off, top-of-the-line 12-fret joint, all-koa model!

In November 2025, Hartman Guitars Chief Akita visited the Eastman factory.
While there, I was fortunate enough to come across a "premium grade Hawaiian koa" with exquisite flame grain (bari-traditional figured grain), a type of wood that has become extremely rare to see in recent years.
This is an extremely rare material that you can't get your hands on just by visiting the factory; you might never come across it unless the timing is right. This special project was made possible thanks to the close communication we've maintained with Eastman.

Based on the specifications of the company's flagship model "E40-OO," and utilizing the finest wood that was secured at this miraculous timing, the all-koa custom "CTM ML-40OO -Premium Hawaiian Koa-" has been completed, reminiscent of the "Martin 00-42 K2."

■ The "ML" prefix in the name of handcrafted products from the top-of-the-line "Master Luthier Series" is a mark of Eastman's highest-end line, the "Master Luthier Series."
This instrument is crafted by a top team of highly skilled artisans from the Eastman factory, the same team that produces the Beaujolais brand's "Touchstone" and "Down East" series. Each instrument is meticulously crafted, with the artisans carefully examining the density and elasticity of the wood and hand-carving the bracing, showcasing their advanced woodworking skills and unwavering dedication to tone.

■A magnificent and opulent appearance created by the combination of premium koa and 40-style construction. Rare premium koa is used generously for the body top, sides, and back.
The vibrant abalone inlay work, characteristic of the 40-style, combined with the beautifully defined flame maple grain, creates an elegant and sophisticated look that instantly satisfies the desire to own it. By deliberately omitting the pickguard, the exquisite beauty of the koa wood is fully showcased, and the body binding is accented with flame maple, which further enhances the beautiful color of the Hawaiian koa.

■12F joint x OO body produces a deep, resonant sound and superb response.
The bridge position, unique to the 12-fret joint structure, produces a rich and deep resonance that is unimaginable from its small OO size.
The clear, sparkling tone characteristic of high-quality Hawaiian koa wood harmonizes beautifully with the magnificent overtones produced by the 40-thread style.
The supple tension of the approximately 632mm scale length and the exquisite finger-friendly feel of the approximately 44.5mm nut width ensure a firm response to even the most delicate touches in fingerstyle playing. Simply strumming the strings fills the space with rich resonance and superb responsiveness.
