A special D-35, luxuriously crafted using rare cocobolo wood and made in Martin's top-of-the-line Custom Shop, has arrived as a used item.
Since its introduction in 1965, the D-35 has been a Martin classic, captivating many musicians with its rich bass and brilliant harmonics, thanks to its three-piece back construction. This particular instrument inherits that tradition while featuring Cocobolo, a high-grade wood that is now extremely rare, for the sides and back—a feature unique to the Custom Shop.
Cocobolo is a rare wood, a relative of rosewood, known for its higher density. It is characterized by powerful, resonant bass tones, clear treble tones, and rich, expansive overtones. It delivers an overwhelming sense of scale in strumming and expresses even the most subtle nuances in fingerstyle playing. Its beautiful and intricate grain is also appealing, and the fact that each instrument has a different appearance adds to the joy of ownership.
Thanks to the carefully selected tonewoods and meticulous construction unique to the Custom Shop, the sound attack is incredibly smooth. The D-35's characteristic enveloping low end is combined with the density and responsiveness unique to cocobolo wood, resulting in a sound full of presence. It produces a powerful resonance when strumming chords, and a beautiful sustain without losing its tone definition when playing solo guitar.
As this is a used item, there may be minor scratches and dents from use, but it has been maintained by our affiliated repair workshop after arriving at our store.
Work performed: Repair of detached binding on both sides of the back and on the top side near the 6th string; fret leveling; nut replacement.
We have finished the instrument to ensure that it is in a condition that allows you to use it with confidence, both in terms of playability and overall condition.
This Custom Shop model boasts rare specifications that are difficult to find new. The price, made possible because it's pre-owned, is also a major attraction.
A one-of-a-kind instrument that combines sound, looks, and rarity.
Experience the exceptional craftsmanship that only a Martin Custom Shop can offer.
