Polish luthier Marek Döbek possesses an unparalleled sense and craftsmanship that allows him to seamlessly integrate innovative ideas into his instruments. Stradi instruments, crafted by Döbek, often exhibit a delicate and noble quality characteristic of European handcrafted instruments, even amidst bold concepts. He transforms unusual materials not typically used in musical instruments, such as 2100-year-old oak, minerals, and metals, into unique and beautiful pieces that surpass even rare exotic woods. While possessing high artistic merit, Stradi instruments are always made with a strong emphasis on tone and playability. By using only the finest materials and combining them in optimal ways that consider the individual characteristics of each instrument, each finished product possesses a unique personality.
The Stradivarius Symphony, a signature model, is known for its beautiful, violin-like body shape. Without using extravagant exotic woods or hardware, it expresses minimalist beauty solely through the natural beauty of the wood. The simple grain of the pau ferro also has that distinctive Stradivarius character.
The Delano Xtender pickups, characterized by their rounded appearance, combined with the piezo pickup built under the bridge, appear to be Marek's favorites and are used in many of his fretless models.
The deep hollow Iroco body, fretless fingerboard, and black nylon strings are a perfect match, producing a warm sound. The sound of the strings rubbing against the fingerboard is not unpleasant, and even when playing simple bass lines, you will find the richness of the tone enjoyable.
Stradivarius seems to be expanding its range of expression in instrument making year after year, while perfecting the balance between functionality and artistry. It has grown into a popular brand that attracts attention from bass fans all over the world.
Take this opportunity to try it out! A fretless bass is definitely a must-have.
