Luthier and musician live in different worlds. The relationship between luthier Yuki Nishigaki and bassist Ryo Miyaji began in 2019 with the joint development of Nishigaki Guitars' first semi-hollow bass, "TEMPESTA." Since then, they have shared a deep mutual interest in music and instruments, and have arrived at the ideal of a dream instrument that never existed before.
Through uncompromising negotiations and countless attempts, they completed instruments that embody a single ideal: the short-scale bass "S1" and the semi-hollow guitar "Faro."
In order to share with many people a richer musical life and the joy of expanding the performer's own potential, a new brand called "Collectera" was born, pledging to continue creating ideal instruments.
The Collectera S-1 is designed with a 14.2-inch full-size body and a short 777mm scale length as its basic specifications, and is equipped with specially designed hardware and custom electronics to realize a unique structure that allows the use of long-scale strings.
The S1-SH features a semi-hollow body, offering a completely new playing experience, allowing you to control the silky, rich bass with just a touch of your finger. In addition to the smooth, beautiful curves created by handcrafting, the instrument also incorporates a Japanese aesthetic, with indigo dyeing and lacquer finishes, evoking a refined, Japanese aesthetic.
It beautifully elevates the boxy style of jazz guitars into a highly practical bass guitar, and it reflects the desires of players who are experts on six-string guitars, with a tight low end that supports the ensemble and a full-bodied high string for melodies and chord work. The moderate tension unique to the short scale also makes for easy string control, greatly contributing to its high playability.
This new short-scale bass combines rich sound and high playability to stimulate the player's imagination. This is gear that will open up new possibilities for all bassists.
