This classic synth bass can be tried out on our dedicated bass floor!
The Bass Station II is a completely redesigned version of the Bass Station, the analog synthesizer that made the Novation brand famous and remains popular to this day. The Bass Station II is a mono-voice analog synthesizer focused on bass sounds. However, its sound engine is incredibly versatile, boasting sharp lead sounds and crisp arpeggios. While retaining the distinctive features of the original Bass Station, the Bass Station II is equipped with newly redesigned modulation, effects, and filters, resulting in a more versatile and enhanced sound while retaining the original sound.
The Bass Station II's purely analog signal path, including the effects section, is unique among currently produced synthesizers. The control panel retains the layout of the original, boasting a luxurious design with dedicated knobs, faders, and switches for all the parameters typically required in a synthesizer. Additionally, 64 killer sound patches are included, allowing you to immediately experience the power of the Bass Station II. In addition, there's space to store 64 original sounds, allowing you to save and recall your favorite tones at any time. Additionally, you can manage even more tones on your computer.
The 25-note keyboard is velocity-sensitive and has configurable aftertouch. Designed for playing these synth sounds, the keyboard offers a light touch and high response from the synth engine. As a standard MIDI device, Bass Station II can be connected to external sound modules, MIDI devices, and computers via MIDI input/output and USB.
・Synth Engine Overview Oscillator:
Bass Station II is equipped with three analog oscillators and a noise generator. It consists of two completely independent oscillators and one sub-oscillator, producing a rich analog synth bass sound. Oscillators 1 and 2 generate sine, sawtooth, square, and various pulse width waveforms, while sub-oscillator 3 generates square, sine, or narrow pulse width waveforms one or two octaves below oscillator 1, resulting in a distinctive, thick bass sound.
・Filter:
Two discrete analog filters offer a range of effects from traditional to 303-esque acid sounds with a diode filter. The overdrive-equipped filter offers three selectable modes: high-pass, low-pass, and band-pass, with a 12dB gentle curve or a 24dB sharp curve.
·effect:
In addition to the filter overdrive, Bass Station II also features two other effects: Analog Distortion, which is useful for adding warmth and fifth-order harmonics, and Osc Filter Mod, which uses an oscillator to create a special FM modulation-like effect, useful for adding thickness to bass and lead sounds.
Modulation:
Two envelope generators and two LFOs are provided for a more diverse and lively sound. The first envelope operates on the ADSR amplitude, while the second acts as a modulation envelope, applying it to the filter frequency, oscillator pitch, and pulse width. The two LFOs, each with four LFO waveforms, provide a modulation effect on the oscillator pitch and pulse width/filter frequency, and a special 'LFO Slew' parameter allows you to vary the LFO waveform to create more diverse and distinctive modulation shapes.
Arpeggiator and Step Sequencer:
Bass Station II is equipped with an arpeggiator and step sequencer to further enhance your performance. The 32 rhythmic arpeggio patterns can be freely adjusted in octave range and arpeggio direction. The step sequencer can handle up to four sequences, which can be assigned as one of the 32 rhythmic patterns. The step sequencer is a convenient feature that can be used for performance, sketching phrase ideas, and even auditioning sounds.
Main Features Analog Synthesizer: Latest version of Bass Station
Bass Station II has a pure analog signal path, retaining the soul of the original Bass Station, but with a new design specifically tailored for synth basses.
- Equipped with two discrete analog filters
In addition to the classic 12/24dB multimode filter from the original Bass Station, it also features a newly designed 'Acid' filter.
-A wealth of killer presets
Bass Station II has 64 factory presets and 64 user preset areas, allowing you to recall and save your favorite sounds at any time.
- Step sequencer and arpeggiator
Bass Station II features a rhythmic pattern arpeggiator and a programmable step sequencer.
- Dedicated parameter controls
Dedicated controls for each parameter required for synthesizer operation support intuitive sound creation and performance.
- Total of 3 oscillators
Bass Station II is a luxurious unit equipped with two main oscillators and a sub-oscillator. The main oscillator generates four waveforms and is equipped with free tuning and sync functions. The sub-oscillator is useful for making bass sounds stand out.
・Analog effects
Bass Station II's effects are also analog. Filter overdrive produces an aggressive drive sound, distortion produces a warm distortion, and filter modulation effects produce a distinctive sound.
-Various modulation
Two envelopes and two LFOs provide modulation effects on amplitude, pitch, pulse width and filter frequency. LFO waveforms include triangle, sawtooth, square and sample-and-hold, plus a special 'Thru' parameter for even more versatility.
・MIDI input/output and USB connection
In addition to Bass Station II MIDI devices, it can also send and receive MIDI information directly to a computer via the USB port.
・Specially designed keyboard
The 25-key (2-octave) full-size keyboard is specially designed for playing synthesizers, and not only supports velocity and aftertouch assignment, but also features an optimized touch for the synth engine.
