Shin's Music, established in Tokyo's downtown area by leading Japanese engineer Shinichi Suzuki, has a proven track record of meeting the needs of numerous professional musicians at the forefront of their fields, from equipment production and customization to repair and guitar construction. The quality and perspective of their work have earned them immense trust, especially among professional musicians. Their product designs accurately capture the extra element players seek (and care about), making them highly useful when included in an ensemble, making them an indispensable part of the ensemble for these high-quality musicians. This "BASS MASTER PREAMP" is a preamplifier that embodies Shin's expertise cultivated in the field.
This unit beautifully recreates the preamp circuit of a TUBE BASS AMP using discrete circuitry in a housing this small. It produces thick, high-quality, and rich bass while preserving the tone of the connected instrument. In addition to the familiar BASS, MIDDLE, and TREBLE EQ sections, another major feature is the DRV mode, which provides nuances similar to the TUBE amp's drive channel. The footswitch controls DRIVE gain, volume, and tone, allowing for proactive use, not just for correction but also for adjusting nuances depending on the ensemble. Because distortion is achieved without a DRIVE circuit, the CLEAN and DRIVE sound images are nearly identical, allowing you to switch from a modern clean sound to a natural drive (crunch) sound without any sense of incongruity.
It produces a rich, thick, and firm sound with just the right amount of range for a comfortable bass sound, without compromising the instrument's original tone. The comfortable compression and slightly drive-like tone texture produced when you pick firmly are reminiscent of the sound of a nostalgic tube amp. This pedal itself is a preamp that produces a high-quality sound worthy of being part of the instrument itself, whether as a preamp that adds a freshness and body to the tone of today's mainstream Class D amps, or as a pedal that produces amp-like, elastic, drive-type distortion.
This unit is the ultimate Bass Master Preamp, equipped with an "IN H/L SW." and "D.EQ SW." The "IN H/L SW." switches the instrument's input level. Normally, use the H (High) side. When using an active bass or other instrument that distorts the instrument's output, use the L (Lo) side to achieve the optimal sound. The additional "D.EQ SW." allows for fine-tuning of the EQ in Drive Mode. The center position of the switch is normal, the lower position provides a more pronounced attack, and the upper position provides a brighter, more articulate sound. This exceptional unit offers specifications that allow you to further optimize the authentic sound of the acclaimed bass master preamp, even for more discerning listeners.
