Description
-Rogers Drums-
Founded in 1849 as an American manufacturer of calfskin drumheads, Rogers Drums began manufacturing drums around the 1930s.
They introduced cutting-edge drum manufacturing techniques and hardware to the world, and made significant strides, particularly from the mid-1950s to the 1970s, becoming a central figure among American drum manufacturers.
Its superior sound and functionality have made it a favorite among drummers across a wide range of genres, from jazz and classic rock to big band drummers like Buddy Rich.
The "Dyna-Sonic" snare drum, equipped with an innovative snare ear tension adjustment mechanism, is known as a model that symbolizes Rogers' superior mechanical design technology.
Furthermore, the "Swiv-o-Matic" series hardware, which incorporated highly innovative ideas for its time, was adopted into the kits of many top artists, including Ringo Starr, John Bonham, and Keith Moon.
-Dyna-sonic-
The Dyna-sonic, an iconic model from Rogers Drums, was introduced around 1961.
Buddy Rich, who was using a Rogers at the time, had his ideal snare drum in mind.
"A drum whose snare wires react to even the slightest touch, yet can withstand hard shots."
It was developed over nearly three years, requiring an enormous amount of effort, in order to achieve this goal.
The most distinctive feature of the Dyna-sonic is its strainer and snare frame, which are equipped with an innovative snare ear tension adjustment function.
With typical snare wire strainers, when trying to increase the tension of the snare wire to achieve a "dry" or "crisp" sound, the wire is excessively pressed against the head, resulting in a choking effect that suppresses the head's vibration.
In contrast, the Dyna-Sonic snare frame allows for independent adjustment of both the tension of the snare wire itself and the force pressing the snare wire against the bottom head.
This allows for increased wire tension without suppressing head vibration, resulting in excellent sensitivity across the entire head, and enabling all snare adjustments, from "dry" to "loose," to be made directly through the frame.
Dyna-sonic is a drum set that solves problems that were previously "unsolvable."
This model incorporates a revolutionary adjustment mechanism, along with advanced technologies for its time such as an extremely shallow snare bed design, and uses brass for the shell material, which offers the widest sound range.
From soft taps to full shots, the sound of each stroke is always clear and crisp, never becoming muffled.
At the same time, it boasts a musical sound that delivers a supple touch and excellent dynamic range, and it remains Rogers Drums' flagship model to this day.
