Description
Description
This particular guitar was shipped around 1975. As you can see, it's a left-handed model. Old left-handed models are very rare, making this a truly exceptional piece. Black guitars from this period are also not very common, further increasing its rarity.
【body】
The total weight is approximately 5.2 kg. The body is made of ash. While black became a regular color during this period, it is not a very common color, and the fact that it is a left-handed model speaks to its rarity. The unique weather checking due to the six-skin finish, characteristic of this period, is visible throughout, along with dents accompanied by paint peeling, sticker residue, traces of finger rest relocation, cracks in the pickguard due to age, and tarnishing of metal parts. Although relatively clean, it has the marks of a long history that cannot be fully reproduced with modern relicing. The finger rest has been replaced, and the metal covers are missing.
【neck】
The neck and fingerboard are made of one-piece maple. It features a 3-bolt neck joint and a micro-tilt neck (adjustable neck joint angle). The crack near the first fret caused by pressure from the truss rod has been thoroughly repaired by our shop, and the entire body has been oversprayed with clear paint. The tuners have some slight inconsistencies in winding tightness, but they function properly. The frets and nut have been replaced by our shop, and the playability is good. The headstock thickness is 14.2mm, and the nut width is 38.6mm. It features a sturdy neck shape despite the narrow width characteristic of an A-neck.
[Electrical System]
The controls are the standard Jazz Bass wiring [2 volume/1 tone]. The pickups are the original gray bobbins from that era, and the internal control components are also in excellent condition as they were at the time.
This bass, crafted from a slightly heavier ash wood typical of the mid-1970s, boasts a tight, focused low end, a clear, articulate attack, and excellent clarity in the mid-to-high frequencies. Its appeal lies in its crisp, distinct attack when slapped, and the firm, well-defined tone characteristic of jazz basses from that era when fingerpicking is used.
