Description

Freedom's 60s-style 5-string JB!
Great deals on used items now available!

Freedom Custom Guitar Research boasts world-class manufacturing techniques and extensive knowledge and experience in guitar mechanisms and sound. Trusted by professional musicians, their basses are handmade in their own workshop in downtown Tokyo, where each stage of the process—from seasoning the wood (which most significantly affects neck stability and strength), to precise woodworking, fretting, painting, and final setup—is handled by dedicated experts.

This model, a true testament to Freedom's expertise, perfectly balances a vintage-like, thick, harmonically rich sound with a clear, resonant low B. Combining a well-seasoned alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard, and employing a simple passive design, it maximizes the inherent tone of the materials. Furthermore, features such as a unique custom-made spiral saddle bridge and proprietary custom-wound pickups ensure a refined, noiseless sound and accurate intonation while pursuing the ultimate vintage tone. This results in an extremely practical instrument that prioritizes both durability and stability as a tool.

Based on the pot date, it appears to have been manufactured around 2013. However, due to the delicate, ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish, the body has numerous paint chips and dents, suggesting it has been used extensively in live performances. There are also some minor dents on the neck and headstock, but no paint chips or severe damage, and it should not be a concern in terms of playability. The frets and fingerboard are relatively clean, and playability is good. The neck condition and truss rod function are perfectly fine, and there is a slight crackling sound in the front pickup's volume pot, but it disappears after turning it a little. It has been re-setup at our shop.

This model is popular among professionals, so don't miss out!!
