The Fender Custom Shop is a section established in 1987 to create the finest guitars under the Fender brand, using carefully selected materials from the wood sourced by Fender and employing traditional handcrafting techniques and advanced manufacturing methods. Inheriting the long-standing tradition and technology of Fender, this section offers a lineup of truly top-of-the-line instruments, including one-of-a-kind models like the Masterbuilder Series, assembled by a limited number of staff.
Many of the tools used in their production are the same ones that were used back then. The instruments, created with the meticulous attention to detail of staff who are intimately familiar with Fender guitar know-how, boast the finest quality and sound to satisfy the player, and will become a reliable companion that you can cherish for a lifetime.

The popular Mercedes Blue Clapton model has arrived! The carefully selected alder body is clad in a deep metallic blue color that looks almost black at first glance, inspired by the color of Clapton's beloved Mercedes-Benz, making it one of the most popular Clapton models and giving it a different impression from the classic black!

The wood materials are carefully selected for the Custom Shop line: an alder body and a one-piece maple neck. The neck shape is the ultra-slim V-shape characteristic of Clapton models, making it easy to grip, and the smooth satin finish reduces stress during playing. It is even slimmer than the USA line models.

The fretboard radius is a shallow 9.5R, while the frets are a thin, vintage-style design. The shallow radius allows for a low string action, and the 22-fret configuration makes it suitable for a wide range of musical styles.
The bridge uses a vintage-style 6-point synchronized tremolo. Since Eric himself does not use the tremolo arm, the bridge is secured with pieces of wood sandwiched between the five springs from the time of arrival. By removing the pieces of wood and changing the springs to the standard three-spring configuration of a Stratocaster, it becomes possible to use the tremolo arm just like a regular Stratocaster.

This guitar features three Vintage Noiseless pickups with noise reduction technology. Like humbuckers, they offer low noise and a responsive sound. Compared to vintage-style pickups, they have a higher clean volume, so even a light overdrive setting will produce plenty of distortion. Despite their high output, they deliver a clear and sharp single-coil sound!

The tone control features a TBX tone control circuit that allows you to control both treble and bass. This single control allows you to adjust the sound from a sweet and mellow tone suitable for jazz fusion to a bright, cutting sound.

The lowest tone control features the active mid-boost circuit, a hallmark of the Clapton model. It's flat at the 0 position, and can be boosted up to 25dB by turning the knob up. You can also change the powerful, long-sustain sound with the controls at your fingertips.

From classic Stratocaster sounds to modern boosted sounds, it can create a wide range of sounds, making it arguably the most versatile pedal in the Artist Collection.

Eric Clapton's performances in Japan in 2025 were fantastic!
The god, now 80 years old, certainly showed signs of aging, but instead of resisting old age, he faced his 80-year-old self as he was, enjoying the music and the communication with the audience, and showed us a wonderful live performance!
He played in a relaxed manner, but when he switched into performance mode, his masterful technique reminded me once again that he truly is a legendary guitarist who was called a god!

We've just received a recommended used item. It's a 2007 model.
The "ORIGINAL Contour Body" decal on the head is peeling off, but this does not affect playability.

This guitar has a lot of scratches, dents, original paint indentations, pick scratches on the pickguard, paint wear, small scratches on the back of the neck, and tarnishing on the metal parts, but it has a great character! There are quite a few scratches, dents, and signs of use, but we have performed maintenance and cleaning on it, so it is ready to use right away.

The frets have been leveled and are in perfect working order. Approximately 80% of the fret life remains. The nut is also in good working order. The truss rod is also in good working order and can be adjusted normally.

We have also checked the electrical system, so there are no problems with its operation.

The weight is approximately 3.49 kg. It's perfectly balanced to produce a sound that's both easy to use and has a solid core!
