Description
Description
Friedman Amp's traditional amplifiers, the "Dirty Shirley" and "Twin Sister" head amplifiers, are based on the legendary vintage amplifier sound of the "JTM45," a symbol of British sound, but Dave Friedman has modified the circuit to allow for flexible operation.
It delivers that organic, rich sound and response, along with superb distortion, all in a compact, floor-type size.
This is a dual-tube preamplifier with a fully independent 2-channel design and an independent "BOOST function" for each channel.
This unit delivers a truly authentic Friedman Amp sound achieved by operating the two preamp tubes (12AX7) at high voltage. It can be connected to the effects return or power amp of a guitar amplifier and output through a guitar cabinet, or, using the 13 diverse power amp simulation functions (IR - Impulse Response) personally selected by Dave Friedman himself, it can be directly connected to studio and live venue PA systems or your home DAW environment.
There are some minor scratches and stains on the exterior, indicating slight signs of use, but it is in good working order.

■A floor-type tube preamp with two completely independent identical channels + boost function. The IR-D, consisting of two identical channels, is a simple yet superb single-channel amp in the Friedman Amp product line. While it is based on the "Twin Sister," which is a two-channel version of the "Dirty Shirley" that is attractive for its 60s British clean crunch sound and natural overdrive sound like when the amp volume is turned all the way up, it also features an independent BOOST function for each channel, allowing you to set the boost volume and gain level for guitar solos.
■ Newly equipped with "2-Way Bright/Tight-Switch" and "3-Way Gain Structure Switch" The "Bright/Tight Switch" on each channel and the "Gain Structure Switch" that allows you to switch the gain range in three stages provide guitarists with a wide variety of sounds and tones.
2-Way Bright/Tight Switch:
-Up position: A sound mode that emphasizes the tightest low end and high mids.
-Down position: A sound mode that produces a fat sound, ideal for single-coil guitars.
3-Way Gain Structure Switch:
-Up position: The highest gain sound mode
-Center position: Lowest gain sound mode
-Down position: Medium gain sound mode
● Equipped with low-latency "Cabinet IR (Impulse Response)"
Dave Friedman has incorporated an "IR Cabinet Simulation Function" that includes carefully selected power amplifier simulations (THUMP and PRESENCE) to fully unleash the potential of the IR-D.
With 13 factory IRs and the ability to load up to 3 additional third-party IRs per channel, you can monitor high-quality sound, just like you would from a studio with proper microphone placement, through the headphone output or output directly to a PA mixer or your home DAW environment.
● Supports presets with a dedicated editor: By using the dedicated editor "FRIEDMAN IR-D EDITOR" (compatible with Mac and Windows), which can be downloaded free of charge, you can configure MIDI, various switches and power amp simulations, select IRs, and upload third-party IRs.
*THUMP and PRESENCE are only effective when using BALANCED OUT and require operation from the editor.
● Equipped with high-quality effects loop (SEND / RETURN)
The effects loop on the rear panel of the IR-D can be used for purposes other than connecting spatial effects pedals, as follows:
-SEND terminal: Connects the preamp sound, which is not simulated by the IR cabinet, to the return of a guitar amp or an external power amp.
-RETURN terminal: Connect to the output of an external effects pedal or preamp to use only the power amp/IR cabinet simulation function.
● MIDI Operation Support: Up to 128 presets can be saved on the unit and its dedicated editor. These can be recalled from an external MIDI controller, and linked with MIDI-compatible spatial multi-effects processors with a single action.
