Description
A rare instrument reminiscent of that guitarist's beloved machine!
A rare model ordered by M2M based on a 1968 Les Paul Custom! A 1968 Les Paul Custom VOS Hand Select with a hand-selected plain maple top and an Antique Natural finish! Made in 2017. A rare piece reminiscent of the beloved instrument of a certain guitarist!
The Les Paul Custom: the guitar of choice for real men!
Standard just won't do! Only a custom version will get you there!! The Les Paul Custom is a model so beloved that you can hear such passionate voices from custom guitar fans!
Based on a 1968 Les Paul Custom, this is a rare M2M (Made to Measure, a limited number of custom-ordered guitars, including one-of-a-kind pieces)! It was made in 2017.
In 2026, a limited edition model featuring Murphy Labs' aging process will be released, and the announcement has generated buzz, creating a rare specification reminiscent of a certain guitarist's beloved instrument!
Based on a 1968 Les Paul Custom, this is a rare M2M (Made to Measure, a limited number of custom-ordered guitars, including one-of-a-kind pieces)! It was made in 2017. Currently, due to licensing issues, it's difficult to order guitars with a look similar to musician models, making this a particularly rare and special model!
The hand-selected, atmospheric plain maple top features an Antique Natural finish! The design is inspired by the look of the ebony black paint stripped from the body top, revealing the natural wood grain. This guitar is reminiscent of the beloved instrument of that guitarist, Starman's right-hand man! Apparently, the guitarist himself, after stripping the black paint and revealing the natural top, referred to his own instrument as "Blonde" because of its rather light color!
This model is based on the 1968 LP Custom, which features a maple top and mahogany body, unlike the all-mahogany body of the 1957 LP Custom! With its antique-style VOS finish, ebony fingerboard/mahogany neck (which is becoming increasingly rare these days), maple top/mahogany back, and two pickups, it's a timeless style that will surely appeal to any rock artist!
Although production of the Les Paul Custom ceased around 1960, its popularity resurfaced in the late 1960s when top musicians began using them. Finally, production resumed in 1968, alongside the Standard. While retaining the design from before 1960, the body material composition was revised, adopting a plain maple top and mahogany back, and the three humbuckers that were prevalent in the 1950s were replaced with two humbuckers. As a result, it achieved simple operation and a sound character that was very sharp and edgy even when distorted, which is now known as the signature tone of the Les Paul Custom.
The 1968 Custom, like the Les Paul Standard, boasts the classic combination of a maple top and mahogany body top. While it retains the weighty sound of mahogany, the maple top adds a crispness to the tone!
The fingerboard, adorned with gleaming block inlays, is made of ebony, while the one-piece mahogany neck features a comfortable C-shape profile.
The now-rare ebony fretboard produces a sharper and tighter sound than a standard LP, creating a masculine tone that cuts through even with high gain, without becoming too muddy—perfect for heavy metal/hard rock! It's also popular among those who like a hard-edged distortion!
The bridge uses the same non-wire ABR-1 as the '59 LP, and the saddles are standard brass saddles instead of nylon ones. The tuning pegs are Grover milk bottles, a modification that has been a staple among precision-conscious musicians since that era. It has a look that is unmistakably that of a rock icon, a Les Paul Custom, and possesses an outstanding presence!
Based on the original listing when it was new, it is presumed to be equipped with Custom Humbucker pickups. The open black finish is very appealing! Two gold pickup covers are also included. The biting sound and tone will make you feel the spirit of the rock movement of that era!

We've just received a recommended used item! It's a 2017 model.
There are minor scratches, dents, pick marks, paint chips, noticeable buckle scratches on the back of the body, minor dents on the back of the neck, dents on the side of the body, and tarnishing of the gold parts, but none of these affect playability. We have performed a full maintenance and cleaning at our shop, so it is ready to use right away!
The frets have been reshaped and it's ready to use. Approximately 90% of the fret life remains.
The nuts have been adjusted. There are no problems with use. The truss rod is also fine for normal adjustment.
The electrical system has also been fully checked, so there are no problems with its operation.
The weight is approximately 3.91 kg. Compared to many heavier Les Paul Custom models, this one is easy to play while still producing a solid, focused sound.
Accessories include the original brown hard case and keys, certificate of authenticity, Hand Selected certificate, Gibson Gold Warranty, Japanese Owner's Manual, two gold pickup covers, pickguard and mounting hardware, and screws.
Don't miss this opportunity!
