Description

Carefully selected consigned items (items sold on your behalf)

The Musicmaster Bass is part of the lineage of student models produced by Fender. While inheriting the design philosophy of the higher-end Precision Bass, it was introduced in 1970 as a single-pickup model with a more compact body and a 30-inch scale. Its streamlined design allows it to shine with a distinctive Fender sound and presence. It transcends the boundaries of an entry-level model and continues to be loved as a unique instrument.

This particular guitar, shipped around 1980, features a popular specification: a black ash body and rosewood fingerboard.

【body】
The total weight is approximately 4.4 kg. The body is made of ash wood. The black finish and black and chrome parts give it a sharp and sophisticated look. Although there are some scratches, paint discoloration that appears to be from a shielding cable, signs of use from picking, and tarnishing on the metal parts, it is in relatively good condition. The strap pins have been replaced.

【neck】
The neck is made of maple, and the fingerboard is made of rosewood. There is some weather checking on the headstock, a few minor dents on the back of the neck, and some tarnishing on the metal parts, but overall it is in good condition, similar to the body. The tuners are a little stiff to wind, but they function properly. The frets and nut show only slight wear, and there are no issues with playability. The headstock thickness is 15.5mm, and the nut width is 41.2mm. It features a sturdy neck shape.

[Electrical System]
The controls are a simple 1 volume/1 tone setup. The output jack has been replaced, but the other control components, including the pickups, remain in their original condition. The ash body's attack and the rosewood fingerboard's moderate warmth coexist in perfect balance. Based on the compression and tight low end characteristic of a 30-inch scale, rolling off the tone knob produces a rounded, vintage-like bass, while opening it up brings out a bright, focused attack. Thanks to its simple circuit configuration, you can enjoy the instrument's original character straight away.
