Description
Description
Our latest arrival is a large-head Stratocaster from 1970. While retaining the specifications unique to the early days of the CBS (Columbia Broadcasting System) system, 1970 models were rarely available, unlike the later mass-produced models, and are becoming increasingly sought after and rare. Early CBS models bearing the large "With Synchronized Tremolo" logo are known to be highly sought after and highly sought after in the marketplace. While the model year portion of the neck date is difficult to read, the other parts dates and serial number indicate that this guitar was shipped in 1970.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.4 kg. The body is made of alder. The finish is unique to this period, the "Fender Thick-Skin High-Gloss," showcasing a subdued three-tone sunburst color with a reddish tinge remaining on the back. The Thick-Skin finish, which uses a polyester undercoat, exhibits the characteristic weathering and paint chipping characteristic of the finish, as well as paint chipping on the back from a belt buckle, dents, and discoloration and tarnish on metal and plastic parts, giving it the wonderful atmosphere you expect from a vintage guitar aged many years ago. The bridge unit has been replaced with a new one from Fender, and the back panel has also been replaced.
【neck】
The neck is made of maple. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. It's nice to see the decal logo, which tends to wear off over time as the finish fades. The tuners appear to have been replaced at one time, but they've now been restored to Fender F keys. While there seems to be some variation in the manufacturing date, they still function properly. The frets and nut were replaced in our shop, and playability is excellent. The headstock is 16.0mm thick. The nut width is 40.6mm. While not particularly thick, the neck shape gives the impression of a solid core. As you can see, this magnificent fretboard has attracted attention overseas, and its connection to the "SPECIAL" stamp on the neck pocket has been a hot topic.
[Electrical system]
The controls are classic Stratocaster-style: 5-way pickup selector (replaceable), master volume, neck (front) position tone, and center position tone. Consumable parts such as the volume pot, string ground wire, 5-way selector switch, and output jack and lead wire have been proactively replaced. The current wiring allows the tone control to be applied even when the bridge pickup is selected. The pickups retain the gray bobbin pickups characteristic of this period. While the acoustic sound may feel a little tighter than those from the all-lacquer finish period, it also has excellent response, highlighting the unique sound of this instrument when plugged in. With a wide range and rich treble, the bridge position offers a solid core and body, while the neck position offers a comfortable, rich, warm tone, this guitar offers the wide range of sound characteristics that are characteristic of Stratocasters, a timeless instrument.
