Description

LOTUS Trumpet Mouthpiece

"Make your life easier" -Lotus Trumpets
It was updated to the third generation in August 2023.

Lotus was born from the concept of "making it easier and more fun to express the music you play, whatever the genre." The brand was created by trumpeter Adam Rappa himself, and was born from a series of thorough test runs.
For trumpets, you can choose from six rim sizes, ten cup depths, and three material combinations.
This is a mouthpiece that we can introduce as a new standard, regardless of genre, such as jazz or classical.

What is a LOTUS mouthpiece?
Incredibly easy to tune and play. Improved tone, accuracy, and durability. Familiar rim and cup make it easy to switch from other manufacturers. Three annealed materials—brass, bronze, and nickel silver—give you more control over tone, projection, and the balance between stability and flexibility.

I, Adam Rapa, believe that mouthpiece choice is far more important than the trumpet you play. The mouthpiece is an instrument and a very important amplification device. What we call "sound" is determined more by the mouthpiece than by the trumpet. The mouthpiece plays a major role in determining the range, quality of articulation, flexibility, durability... the intonation of the entire instrument, the resistance you feel when moving air, and more. Your playing is affected more by the mouthpiece than the trumpet. And, fortunately, mouthpieces are much cheaper than trumpets!

7M2 Nickel Silver

Rim size: 7
Cup depth: M2
Material: Nickel silver plating: PVD gold coating (*)

Comparison mouthpiece size: Bach 7C rim diameter, cup between D and E. Monette B7LD S2
・YAMAHA 11B4A
etc.

◯About the "M2" cup size
The M2 was added in response to requests from players looking for a hotter, more aggressive sound than the M Cup, and is aimed specifically at commercial players such as lead and studio players.
This cup is slightly shallower than the M cup, with a tight 3.6mm throat, a backbore with a bright tone like a Bach No. 76, and the distinctive color of nickel silver, making it a step towards a real reed mouthpiece.

It also produces a sound that is more reminiscent of a reed mouthpiece than the M cup.
The cup has more volume than an actual reed cup, making it ideal for players who say, "I can't play with a shallow cup."

It is also suitable for high-note ballads in big bands, as well as other performances that require low and mid-range playing.
It is richer and has more musical nuances than a typical reed mouthpiece.

[Ideal for the following situations]
- Lead players who are looking for a bright tone similar to that of lead players and a ``feel'' to play with the non-aggressive energy that is unique to a deep cup.
Recommended for horn sections: Players seeking a brighter, tighter sound with significantly improved access to the upper register, but who struggle with shallower cups; Big band second players who want to be able to keep up with the lead player in solo parts, but still want a fuller sound for solos; Those who find the tone of their piccolo trumpet harsh or muddy.

[Material development]
Brass/Bronze/Nickel Silver *In order to take advantage of the characteristics of the cup, the materials available for some models are limited.

[Size range]
Rim sizes: 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, 11
Cup depth: XL, XL2, L, L2, M, M2, S, XS, XS2

(※) PVD gold coating is a coating method used for jewelry and molds, etc.
It can be treated in the same way as general plating.
It can be made thin and hard, making it scratch-resistant and able to maintain its beauty.
