Description
-Oak Custom-
The Oak Custom series, which has been popular since its introduction in 2002, uses oak as a new shell material, joining birch, maple, and beech.
Oak is a very difficult material to process, so drum manufacturers at the time refrained from using it.
Yamaha has succeeded in using this hard wood for drum shells using its proud air seal molding technology.
The result is a drum that perfectly brings out the characteristics of the hard material, leaving an impression with quick response and deep, clear bass, making it one of the Yamaha drums in the lineup.
-All Oak Shell-
Oak (known as Nara in Japan) is a material never before seen before, and is molded using Yamaha's unique airbag method with high-pressure air. This gives it the same roundness and uniform cross-sectional thickness as maple and birch, as well as excellent durability.
The shell has been finished to deliver the solid bass range and clear sound image that are characteristic of oak.
-NSD087-
This is an early model that was produced for a short period from 2002 to 2005.
It features a snare wire with an adjustment knob inside the shell, which was only available on early models.
The solid low range without blurring the sound image is a sound unique to oak.
It delivers ample dynamics and depth thanks to its 7-inch depth, while still delivering a clean, well-rounded sound.
By utilizing the inner snare wire, it is possible to produce a tighter and clearer stick sound, making it suitable for a wide range of playing styles, from delicate playing to powerful backbeats.
