FAQ

Description

The Yamaha "SG" series was an original model that first appeared in the 1960s. It began as early as the GS era and underwent several major model changes, eventually reaching the double cutaway shape with the SG-30/35 around 1973. The traditional SG shape, which continues to this day, was perfected with the SG-175 in the following year, 1974, and has since spawned numerous variation models.

The latest item in stock is the "SG-1500," which, based on the serial number, appears to have been shipped around 198, making it a rare model with a short production run.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.4 kg. The body color is Yamaha's classic persimmon red, with gold hardware and a rich wood grain finish unique to the see-through color. The materials are maple for the top, mahogany for the back, and a neck-through design. There are scratches and dents throughout, some dullness on the metal parts, and some cloudy paint, which is common on Yamaha guitars of this period.

【neck】
As mentioned above, this guitar features a three-piece neck-through design made of maple and mahogany. The fingerboard is rosewood. The exterior design clearly indicates that this is a standard neck-through design, rather than the T-cross maple found on the SG-2000. The tuners are slightly unevenly wound, but function properly. The frets and nut show signs of wear and some dents, especially on the lower frets, but there is currently no significant buzzing or clogging, and the guitar plays well. The nut width is approximately 42.9mm. It features a firm width and a thin neck shape.

[Electrical system]
The controls are a 2-volume, 2-tone, and 3-way pickup selector switch, with each tone pot equipped with a traditional bi-sound switch. The pickups are two original semi-open humbuckers. The combination of the bi-sound switch and the SG pickups provides a wide range of tones, from thick humbuckers to sharp single-coil tones. This is a great product that combines ruggedness with dexterity.
