Description
The Les Paul Model, guitarist Les Paul's signature model, was released in 1952, but after his contract with Les Paul expired in the early 1960s, its specifications underwent major changes. This was the beginning of the history of the SG Solid Guitar series.
In the 1970s, various SG models underwent changes and additions, resulting in a wide variety of variations. This time, we have the SG Special, featuring a small pickguard and two mini humbuckers.
【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.1 kg. The black single-ply small pickguard, which had already made a comeback around this time, and the new mini humbucker pickups still look fresh today. The thin mahogany body is finished in a walnut color that brings out the natural color of mahogany. While there are signs of wear and tear, such as scratches, weathering, and belt buckle marks, and some fading on parts, the finish itself is in excellent condition, giving it the wonderful feel of a vintage instrument.
【neck】
The neck is made of three pieces of mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The neck binding with black accents on the sides is stylish. There is some weather checking around the headstock brand logo inlay and some minor dents around the headstock and neck, but the guitar is in relatively good condition. The tuners function well with little variation in winding. The guitar originally had wide, low frets, but they have been filed down and adjusted for good playability. The nut width is 40.7mm. The neck profile is relatively thin.
[Electrical system]
The controls are the familiar 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls found on the Les Paul/SG series. The pickups are the original mini humbuckers, and the controls, including the pickups, are in perfect condition. The natural resonance is rich in overtones, delivering the crisp tone you expect from a Gibson mini humbucker.
