Description

The ES-Artist is a rare item produced from 1979 to the mid-1980s. Its 16-1/4-inch wide body features a semi-acoustic construction without f-holes, a Dr. Moog circuit familiar from the RD series, a flame-grained maple body, "winged-f" inlays also found on RD Artist headstocks, gold hardware, and multi-ply binding on the body—all of which combine to create a model with both great sound and great looks.

The guitar we have in stock this time was made in 1979 and is very easy to use, with the active circuit removed and the guitar now finished in passive mode.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 4.0 kg. The body is made of semi-hollow maple with multi-ply binding around the top and back. The grain stands out beautifully against the beautifully gradient sunburst color. While there is some weather checking, dents, and other scratches, aging of the binding and pickguard, and patina and tarnish on the gold hardware, the guitar is in relatively good condition, retaining the vintage feel of a guitar. The switch knob has been replaced along with the switch, as well as the rear pickup ring and control knobs. The standard tailpiece is a TP-6, with a fine tuner for precise tuning.

【neck】
The neck is made of five-piece maple with a gorgeous, prominent grain. The fingerboard is made of ebony. While there is some weather checking around the binding and inlays, some minor dents, and some tarnish on the metal parts, the guitar is in relatively good condition. The tuners are tightly wound and function well. The nut is original brass, and the frets were replaced in our shop, resulting in excellent playability. The nut width is 42.8mm. The neck shape is relatively clean.

[Electrical system]
The Dr. Moog active circuit has been removed, and the guitar now features passive controls (3-way pickup selector, 2-volume, and master tone). The three mini switches for the active circuit are now dummy. The pots, capacitors, switch, and output jack have been replaced. The pickups remain the originals. The rich response of the excellent wood, combined with the passive design, gives the guitar a lustrous, clear tone inherited from the ES model.
