Description

Since its introduction in 1958, the ES-335TD has reigned as a semi-acoustic guitar representative, not just for Gibson, but for a wide range of applications.

This time we have an ES-335TDC from the mahogany neck era, shipped around 1974. It has a beautiful cherry color with just the right amount of fading.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 3.4 kg. The body is made of maple, and the semi-hollow construction with a center block and a width of approximately 16 inches is a familiar sight. The cherry color has faded moderately, resulting in a vibrant and beautiful see-through red. There is some weather checking, scratches, and tarnish on the metal parts, but the guitar is in relatively good condition. The pickguard blank cap nut is missing. The bridge has been replaced with a slightly later ABR-1, and is currently slightly warped, so purchasing a new one of the same type may be more comfortable. The control knobs have been replaced.

【neck】
The neck is made of three pieces of mahogany. The fingerboard is made of rosewood. The condition is relatively good, with only a little paint peeling on the back of the neck and some weathering near the headstock inlay. The tuners for the 1st through 4th strings have some bends and some inconsistency in the windings, but they still function properly. It may be easier to use if you purchase new ones of the same type. The frets and nut show some wear, but there is no excessive choking or other issues, and playability is good. The nut width is 40.0mm. The neck profile thickens significantly toward the 12th fret.

[Electrical system]
The controls are standard: 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. The pickups and other controls are in excellent condition, just as they were back then. This guitar boasts a natural resonance and well-balanced tone, a warm neck position, and a clear, engaging bridge position, resulting in a wonderful sound.
