Description
Description
A 4-band EQ model of the high-end channel strip newly designed for Roger Waters' (ex-Pink Floyd) "Wunderbar" console.
The PEQ4R mic pre/equalizer is a 19" rackmount version of Vander Audio's new PEQ4 module. It features a plastic conductive logarithmic taper that serves as the output fader, an output level potentiometer, a 48V phantom power switch, and a 1/4" instrument input jack.
Designed in 2019 for Roger Waters' (ex-Pink Floyd) 48-channel WUNDERBAR console, the PEQ4 expands the PEQ2's three-band EQ to four bands: Low, Low-Mid, High-Mid, and High. This four-band mic pre/EQ module offers increased frequency boost/cut, while the Low-Mid and High-Mid bands offer selectable narrow or wide Q settings. In addition to the expanded EQ bands, the PEQ4 also features refined boost and cut amplifiers, resulting in improved boost and cut resolution compared to the PEQ2. New custom gunmetal gray aluminum knobs add a distinctive touch to the module. A new silent switching push button activates a relay that blocks audio, resulting in a more noiseless sound. Like the PEQ2, the PEQ4 features a custom Vander Audio transformer for a richer, fuller sound. While the PEQ4 is not a replacement for the PEQ2, it is ideal for those who want more aggressive EQ control while still retaining the charm of the PEQ2.
■New features of PEQ4R ◎Improved equalizer boost/cut amp ◎Noiseless relay push button switch that does not pass through the switch ◎Extended mid band equalizer from one to two ◎Two mid band Q settings with narrow/wide switching
Main specifications: - Same as PEQ2, microphone preamp; - Same as PEQ2, proprietary Class A output stage for high maximum gain; - Same as PEQ2, proprietary Western Electric 6186-style "NICO" transformers (nickel/iron/cobalt) for microphone input, live input, and output transformers; - Same as PEQ2, thick mu-metal enclosure for excellent shielding and RF protection; - Same as PEQ2, high and low shelving EQs
