●An app launcher system that allows for incredibly simple recording operations. The camera features a completely new app launcher system. Simply use the circle scroll to select the app that best suits your recording needs from six available apps, and when you launch it, the recording preset will instantly be called up. This means you can focus on recording without having to worry about complicated settings. More recording presets will be added in future updates.

●Easy operation, stress-free with touch panel
The 3.5-inch color touch panel, combined with the large-diameter jog wheel, allows for stress-free operation, even when fine-tuning effects and faders.

Dual AD Converters and 32-bit Float Recording Support: In addition to the recording level settings in each app, Portacapture X8 achieves a wide dynamic range through powerful audio processing using dual AD converters and 32-bit float recording technology. Recording is possible without fine-tuning the input level, and there's also a normalize function that adjusts the volume of the stereo mix during editing.

8-In/2-Out USB Audio Interface: Simply connect to a computer or mobile device via USB and it functions as a USB audio interface, no driver installation required. Up to 8 input channels (6 inputs + 2 mixes) and 2 output channels are supported, allowing you to simultaneously use the USB microphone, mixer, and built-in recorder functions. For example, you can use the USB microphone and mixer functions simultaneously when recording narration directly into audio editing software or live streaming with OBS Studio. It can also function as both a USB microphone and a recorder for online meetings, all in one unit.

The included detachable large-diaphragm condenser microphone can be switched between True XY and AB modes by simply swapping the left and right sides. The 14.6mm large-diaphragm condenser microphone is the largest available for a TASCAM handheld recorder, enabling high-quality stereo recording.

● Multi-track recording of up to 8 tracks
The Portacapture X8 can simultaneously record up to eight tracks (six tracks + two mixes) to a microSD card (sold separately). It supports both multi-track and mono recording, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from live band performances to narration recording.

Supports a wide range of recordings with a wide range of inputs and outputs
It is equipped with four phantom powered microphone inputs and an XLR/TRS combo jack that can accept line-level inputs.* The microphone preamps use HDDA (High Definition Discrete Architecture), a discrete circuit that incorporates TASCAM's expertise, to achieve low-noise, clear recording.

Furthermore, if you remove the included detachable condenser microphone, you can connect an external microphone that supports plug-in power via a 3.5mm TRS terminal.
It also comes equipped with an EXT IN/LINE OUT jack that doubles as a CAMERA IN/OUT jack for camera use, making it suitable for a variety of recording needs. Audio can be monitored via the headphone jack or the built-in speaker.

●Bluetooth remote control via mobile app: By using the optional Bluetooth adapter ``AK-BT1,'' you can use the ``Portacapture Control'' app for iPad, iPhone, and Android to perform basic operations such as recording and stopping, as well as access the Portcapture X8 app, load dynamics presets, adjust gain, mix, and control effect parameters.

Portacapture Control can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play.

●Audio recording tool for video production
The Portacapture X8 also offers a flexible solution for videographers and audiovisual recorders. The CAMERA IN terminal supports monitoring audio recorded on the camera itself and wireless microphone input, while the CAMREA OUT terminal can be attenuated by up to 30dB. A camera screw on the back allows you to mount the Portacapture X8 on a camera, tripod, or rig. The cold shoe on the back also allows you to attach a shotgun microphone or wireless receiver.
