The DR-40X features two reliable Neutrik locking XLR/TRS combo inputs, supporting external microphone input and +4dBu line-level input. Balanced connections from mixers or PA consoles are possible. Phantom power is also supported, allowing use with condenser microphones. The built-in stereo microphone allows for recording the entire live venue while simultaneously recording the PA console's output. Connecting the DR-40X to a computer or iOS device via its USB audio interface function enables professional-quality audio dubbing, live streaming, podcasting, and composing. It operates as simply as a USB microphone, requiring no complex setup.
