Description
*There are signs of use such as scratches, dirt, dents, and tape marks.
The Ambrosia Maple shell material, created to commemorate Craviotto's 10th anniversary, was found on the Erie Canal, which runs east to west through the heart of New York City, USA.
Swamps and natural wetlands line the canal banks, and many of these wetlands are where soft maple grows. These wetlands are also home to Columbia Timber Beetle larvae, which burrow into the maple trees and create small holes. Bacteria and other fungi on the beetles discolor the wood, creating a rare and unusual material that can only be created under certain natural conditions. This unique and powerful gift is a testament to the power of nature.
In terms of sound quality, it has the acoustic warmth that is unique to soft maple, and produces a fat, mellow, and natural sound.
The wooden body features a Baltic birch striking surface. Phosphor bronze strings, the same material used in guitar strings, provide a clear attack and rich sustain. Compared to a standard cajon, the slightly slimmer shape makes it lighter and easier to play.
The surface has faded color where the hands touch, just like a well-used cajon.
Size: 18-1/2"H x 11"W x 10-1/2"D
