This is a handmade kasishi by Yoshiyoshi Komori of the "Kashishi Kobo Esperanza" in Gifu. It is a first-class product with a careful and cute finish, and the attention to sound is evident everywhere.
It is a percussion instrument used in conjunction with the berimbau, an instrument used in the martial art of capoeira in Africa and Brazil. It has a gourd or coconut shell as the base and a woven rattan body. It is shook horizontally or vertically to produce sound. One notable feature is that the sound it produces varies greatly depending on the material of the base.
The attack is the strongest and most shrill.
M size: base diameter 5.8cm, height approx. 12.5cm
