Description

★PURE DRIVE

PURE DRIVE is a multi-channel preamp based on the PureDrive preamp featured in the ORIGIN model, which allows you to switch between SSL's traditional clean SuperAnalogue preamp sound and a drive tone, and also features the new Asymmetric Drive, ADAT and AES/EBU digital connections, and an onboard USB interface.

PURE DRIVE offers four mic preamp input impedance options, allowing engineers to explore a variety of tonal possibilities and match the mic pre's impedance to their microphone. Additionally, each mic pre includes independent +48V phantom power, polarity inversion, and a high-pass filter. As one of the most capable and feature-rich outboard mic preamps available, PURE DRIVE opens up new sonic possibilities and workflows for professional producers and recording engineers.

<3 flavors, 1 mic preamp>

PURE DRIVE features SSL's advanced analog circuit design.
PUREDRIVE's critical audio signal path is entirely free of electromechanical components (potentiometers, mechanical switches, relays, etc.), extending product life and enabling perfect "matching" between all channels, not just stereo pairs. Analog circuitry is controlled digitally, and step controls are used for increased repeatability and precision.

Each PURE DRIVE mic preamp offers SSL's legendary SuperAnalogue preamp sound, faithfully capturing every detail in clarity, and can be independently switched between two different DRIVE modes: Classic Drive and Asymmetric Drive.

In both DRIVE modes, the preamp responds to signal level and gain settings.
As signal levels and gain settings increase, second harmonic distortion occurs first.
- At higher signal levels/gain settings, third harmonic distortion components are added.
At higher signal levels/gain settings, the third harmonic distortion content increases up to the clipping point, causing some compression on transient signals.

Classic Drive is a drive mode that primarily adds odd harmonics, and is the same drive sound as the one found on the ORIGIN console.

Asymmetric Drive is newly designed for the PURE DRIVE rackmount preamp, adding primarily even harmonics for a thicker sound and softer transients.

PURE DRIVE's advanced connectivity expands your recording possibilities. Extensive analog and digital I/O provides preamps with exceptional performance and flexibility, whether you're tracking a band in a world-class studio or adding warmth to stems in production. And with a built-in USB sound card, it's perfect for projects where quality can't be compromised.

PURE DRIVE features a rear-mounted combo XLR input for mic/line, four Hi-Z/DI instrument inputs on the front panel (with auto-input detection), and

The insert return input operates up to +24 dBu line level, allowing seamless integration with other professional equipment.

PURE DRIVE's versatile digital connectivity includes a built-in USB sound card that delivers up to 32-bit/192 kHz audio to your DAW.

Equipped with AES/EBU output and ADAT output.
Two PURE DRIVE QUADs can be cascaded together using the ADAT LINK IN connection to expand up to eight channels (QUAD only).

AES and ADAT outputs are available for your DAW from the onboard USB soundcard, and there are auto-ranging word clock inputs and outputs for robust digital clocking.

■Features:
SSL Super Analogue Preamp: Each channel features a clean SuperAnalogue preamp sound, plus two drive modes: Classic Drive and Asymmetric Drive.
48V phantom power, phase inversion, and high-pass filter per channel. Four Hi-Z/DI instrument unbalanced inputs on the front panel (automatic input detection). (Both QUAD and OCTO have four DI inputs.)
