Description

// Michael Burke / Tin Whistle //

This is a brass D-pipe tin whistle made by Michael Burke, an American handmade tin whistle craftsman.
Michael Burke's tin whistles are well-balanced and highly capable, with excellent pitch, feel, and the ability to produce delicate expressions.
It is characterized by its great expressive power, as it is easy to vary the emphasis and the pronunciation is clear.

The body is made of brass and the mouthpiece is made of a hard plastic called Delrin, making it very sturdy.
It is extremely stable, so it can also be used for concerts.
We recommend this instrument to beginners as it is easy to play and fun to practice.
Brass is known for its mellow and soft tone.

■Thumbhole ModelThis model has a back hole that is operated with the thumb of the top hand (left hand for right-handed players).The fingering is basically the same as a regular tin whistle, but if you hold down a B (C) and release the thumbhole, you will produce a C (C) natural.
With standard fingering, a C natural is produced by cross-fingering or half-opening the finger holes, but this tends to result in an unstable pitch and a dark tone. By using a thumbhole, the quality and volume of the C natural becomes closer to the other notes. Depending on the connection between the B and C notes, fingering can also become smoother.
The thumbhole C natural has the same fingering as the modern flute, so it may be easier for modern flute players to play.

■Points to note about brass instruments Brass instruments are a material that reacts sensitively to sebum and sweat, and are prone to discoloration (this will depend on the individual's constitution).
After using the instrument for practice, etc., you can slow down discoloration by wiping off any oils and other traces of skin on the body with a cloth. Such discoloration can be improved to some extent with metal polish, but if you are concerned about discoloration over a short period of time, we recommend choosing an instrument made of something other than brass.
