Description
Description
The author is Kazuaki Yokoyama, a talented drummer who has garnered enthusiastic support from many musicians.
The popular "Jazz in Three Years" drum instruction book is finally here! Author Kazuaki Yokoyama, a prolific jazz musician, is a renowned figure among a wide range of musicians for his profound respect for music, vast knowledge, and deep love for it. This first book follows the format of the "Three Years Later" series, consolidating essential knowledge for jazz performance. Unlike the typical instructional book that prioritizes form and sheet music, this book demonstrates the diverse interpretations of performance. It provides a comprehensive explanation of the essentials, including why a particular technique exists, how it produces a certain sound, and why a particular instrument should be used. Of particular note is the accompanying CD, which includes three ensemble recordings with Mei Inoue (guitar) and Yusuke Senkita (bass). The songs were not decided until just before recording, and the CD also features lively conversations during the discussions. The roundtable discussion between the three musicians is intended to reach not only drummers, but all musicians, and is sure to be a book that will undoubtedly offer new discoveries for drummers in their fourth year or more, not just those three years from now!
