Description

★A rare microphone chosen by vocalists around the world.

■Product Features ・Tight supercardioid pattern with no off-axis coloration ・Immunistic to extreme sound pressure levels ・Rugged construction ・Highly resistant to feedback ・Built-in pop screen ・Very low handling noise

This microphone delivers quality comparable to recording microphones for handheld live stage use. It's also the microphone of choice for many vocalists, including Norah Jones.
With its excellent sound, this is a great product to use as a recording microphone.

Instead of the urethane foam windscreens used in most vocal microphones, which have the tendency to attenuate high-frequency components, this microphone uses a unique four-layer mesh open structure.
In addition, the carefully designed filter effectively eliminates pop noise and handling noise while maintaining good sound quality.

The amplifier lavishly employs a studio condenser capsule with DC polarity, and its characteristics are tuned specifically for vocals, capturing every delicate nuance and sense of power.
Its ultra-cardioid characteristics and excellent response, which does not alter the timbre of off-axis sounds, enable extremely high gain while suppressing feedback. Its design also takes ease of use on stage into consideration.

And what's most important is reliability. Not only are products that pass strict quality control shipped, but they also have a sturdy, durable construction and a reliable support system. This is a microphone that will always be with you on stage, a microphone that will last a lifetime.

Neumann Sound on Stage
The KMS 105 is a studio-grade vocal microphone for stage use. Its precision-manufactured condenser capsule delivers true Neumann sound quality, while combining the benefits of a rugged stage microphone: excellent pop protection, low handling noise, high SPL capability, and a tight supercardioid pattern for high immunity to feedback.

Studio quality for stage vocals
Unlike typical stage microphones that use dynamic capsules, the KMS 105 features a true condenser capsule, delivering the exceptional clarity for which Neumann studio microphones are world-renowned. It also offers the robustness required for stage microphones, dispelling the myth that condenser microphones are fragile. The KMS 105 can withstand enormous sound pressure levels of up to 150 dB without clipping, and its tight, frequency-independent supercardioid pattern ensures high gain before feedback. The KMS 105 has a much smoother frequency response and an airier top end than dynamic microphones. Compared to dynamic microphones, the Neumann KMS 105's superior transient response produces a more immediate and emotive vocal sound. In practice, it's easy to achieve clarity and further improve feedback resistance without the need for typical EQ boosts.

As a stage microphone, the KMS 105 is optimized for close-range miking. Its fixed low-cut filter compensates for the proximity effect, ensuring clear bass even when the singer's lips are close to the microphone. The headgrille is made of hardened steel and features a wire-gauze multi-level pop filter. Despite its effectiveness, this acoustic filter does not introduce sibilance or impair the capsule's directivity. The head amplifier is protected by a thick housing. Its transformerless output minimizes hum and other electromagnetic interference. With a low output impedance of just 50 ohms, the KMS 105 can drive extremely long cables (up to 300 meters (1000 feet)) without transmission loss.

While the KMS 105 is primarily designed as a handheld vocal microphone, its high SPL capability and wide dynamic range allow it to be used for other stage applications, such as percussion, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, harmonica, acoustic guitar, and guitar cabinets. Thanks to its excellent sound quality, the KMS 105 is also an excellent microphone for home recording and broadcast applications. Optimized for close microphone placement, the KMS 105 is able to capture a dry sound with little ambience, a significant advantage in rooms with untreated acoustical treatment.
