●Handmade Capsules No matter how good a microphone is, its sound starts with a great capsule. More than any other component, the capsule determines the sound of a microphone. Creating a great capsule requires careful consideration of every aspect of its design, from mechanical tolerances down to thousandths of an inch to every picofarad of capacitance, which affects the sound that enters your DAW. Heisermann Audio is one of the few microphone manufacturers in the world that designs, manufactures, and assembles its capsules from start to finish. We pour all of that experience and dedication into our microphones.

Each Heiserman HK47 capsule is meticulously handcrafted in-house by skilled technicians. Modern manufacturing advancements, combined with Heiserman Audio's most valuable asset—their expert ears—result in a higher level of consistency and reliability compared to vintage counterparts. The quality and tone of every capsule fitted to the Type-19 is assured by numerous sweep and listening tests. The HK47 is made in the USA using 6-micron gold-plated DuPont Mylar.


The Type-19 breathes life into your recordings with a capsule that captures the magic of legendary vintage microphones, not the flat frequency response found in typical utility microphones. The Type-19 features custom circuitry that enhances the capsule's "47"-like brilliance, and is packed with features and capabilities to handle virtually any source.

Inspiration and feedback from leading audio engineers played a key role in perfecting the Type-19's final design and functionality. Among them, Grammy-winning sound engineers Craig Alvin and Kacey Musgraves suggested adding a figure-8 polar pattern for their unique drum miking techniques. Modifications to the circuit to add the figure-8 pattern, in addition to the prototype's cardioid and omnidirectional, along with the addition of a high-pass filter and pad switch, resulted in the ultimate in versatility for the 47 microphone.
