The TLM 102 delivers Neumann quality for both small studios and home recording. Like its high-end counterparts, the TLM 102 combines exceptional technical excellence with a beautifully balanced sound, delivering silky vocals, crisp guitars, and powerful drums. With its cardioid pattern and integrated pop screen, the TLM 102 is easy to use, even for beginners.
The TLM 102 is Neumann's most cost-effective large-diaphragm condenser microphone. And of course, it's a true Neumann, designed and manufactured in Germany with meticulous attention to detail. Compared to more expensive Neumann microphones, the TLM 102 is reduced in size and functionality, but Neumann never compromises on sound quality. Despite its affordable price, the TLM 102 has a very attractive appearance, with its classic tapered head grille and the famous Neumann diamond set in a chrome ring.
Smart Looks - Smart Engineering: The newly developed large-diaphragm condenser capsule delivers clear, focused sound. The TLM 102 captures the true character of every voice and instrument with a remarkably linear response throughout the midrange, and a slight rise around 10 kHz delivers silky high frequencies. The TLM 102 also boasts a rich bottom end thanks to the controlled proximity effect of the large-diaphragm cardioid capsule.
The technical performance of the TLM 102 is also impressive: with a self-noise of just 12 dB-A, it is far below the ambient noise even in a very quiet room. At the same time, the TLM 102 can handle extreme sound pressure levels of up to 144 dB without distortion. As part of the TLM series, the TLM 102 has a transformerless output stage, which ensures powerful bass and a direct sound without transmission losses, even at the highest signal levels.
Big sound for a small studio
With a huge dynamic range of 132 dB and an extremely uniform cardioid pickup pattern, the TLM 102 is an extremely easy-to-use microphone for home and project studios as well as for demanding live applications. Its uncolored sound and fast transient response make the TLM 102 ideal for male and female vocals, as well as a wide range of instruments, including acoustic and electric guitars, bass guitars, double basses, drums, percussion, brass, and saxophones.
