IRON COBRA 900 DRUM PEDAL

What makes the ultimate drum pedal? Is it a light feel, speedy movement, or the ability to produce great volume? The specific elements desired vary greatly from person to person, but if we were to encompass them all, it could be summarized in a simple phrase: a pedal that allows the player to produce the sound they want, at the time they want it, and with stress-free control. To answer this simple proposition, drum manufacturers have been experimenting and researching for decades, and continue to do so even now. And now, TAMA's answer to that ultimate drum pedal is this new Cobra pedal. This new Cobra pedal does not contain any groundbreaking technology that boasts of novelty. However, everything that TAMA has done for drum pedals up to this point permeates every aspect of this pedal. Nothing has remained unchanged. That is the new Cobra pedal. Please experience this new Cobra pedal with your own feet.

Trust and evolution born from 20 years of experience. Versatile adjustment functions to accommodate any playing style, and a smooth, easy-to-control feel. And above all, the reliability that allows you to concentrate on your game with peace of mind. Only IRON COBRA, loved for over 20 years and constantly evolving, can achieve this. Experience the evolved new IRON COBRA for yourself, with mechanisms developed for even smoother movement and improved durability, and a new beater that enhances the player's expressiveness.

● Two types of cam (sprocket) shapes are available to affect pedal action. By reducing the weight of the cam itself by approximately 40% compared to conventional models, a smoother and lighter pedaling feel is achieved.
●Features a new mechanism, Swivel Spring Tight, which maximizes the effect of the spring. By minimizing power loss, pedal control has become easier.
● Equipped with a new-shaped felt beater, the Power-Strike Cobra Beater. By focusing on the center of gravity balance, it is easy to control and produces a solid bass drum sound.

IRON COBRA900 - Feature
Swivel Spring Tight: A new mechanism designed to maximize the effect of the spring. The axis that fixes the lower end of the spring rotates (swivels) in accordance with the movement of the pedal, so that the spring always expands and contracts vertically without distortion even during vigorous movements. This converts the elastic energy stored in the spring into energy to move the pedal without loss. Furthermore, by reducing the friction at the connection point with the spring, it achieves ideal pedal work with light pressing and quick return.

The Hinge Guard Block changes the method of fixing the bearings at both ends of the hinge shaft from the conventional method of passing them through the side of the footboard to a method of holding the bearings by sandwiching them from above and below. By distributing the force applied to the bearings when the pedal is pressed, the load on the bearing shaft itself is reduced. This allows for rotation with higher precision than conventional models, achieving unprecedented smooth operation.

Oiles Bearing Hinge: The hinge that serves as the pivot point for the footboard uses Oiles bearings, which are made of bell brass mesh coated with Teflon resin. This eliminates unpleasant lateral movement of the footboard and provides smooth pedal work.

The cam (sprocket) of the LiteSprocket pedals, which greatly affects the pedal's action, uses a perfectly round shape that pursues a balance between durability and lightness. By reducing the force required for rotational movement, it achieves a light pedaling feel.
Power Glide: An original action created by cutting only the upper edge of the perfectly round wheel in a straight line, which increases the speed of the beater head just before it hits the drumhead.
Rolling Glide: Features a natural action thanks to its orthodox round wheels. This all-around model offers easy control and responsive handling.

Minimizing Power Loss
SPEED COBRA pedals incorporate bearings in each drive component to ensure smooth and stable movement. The shaft features ultra-precision bearings, similar to those used in computer hard disk drives and automotive ABS systems, providing smooth and stable action. High-precision ball bearings at the connection point between the spring and shaft efficiently convert the force applied to the footboard into rotational energy for the cam, resulting in smooth pedal operation. Furthermore, Oiles bearings in the hinge eliminate unpleasant lateral movement of the footboard.

The Cobra Coil is a TAMA original mechanism that provides a light and responsive feel by assisting the rebound after pressing down on the footboard. This mechanism, set between the footboard and the underplate, is designed to touch the underside of the footboard just before the beater hits the bass drum head. This supports the rebound without affecting the pressing motion, enabling light and agile footwork.

Speedo-Ring & Quick-Hook: High-precision ball bearings are installed at the connection point between the spring and the shaft. These bearings efficiently convert the elastic energy generated by the force of pressing the footboard into rotational energy for the cam. Furthermore, they precisely follow the movement of the spring, resulting in a smooth movement where the movement of your foot and the movement of the footboard are synchronized. In addition, the Quick-Hook that connects the bearing and the spring can be easily removed, allowing you to store the pedal compactly in its case without removing the beater.

The Super Stabilizer Design features a frame that supports the shaft driving the cam and beater—essentially the pedal's skeleton—with a width increased by approximately 15mm. The underplate that supports the entire pedal has also been widened by approximately 12mm compared to previous models. This significantly improves stability, allowing for consistent action without wobbling, even during intense pedal work.

The Para-Clamp II Pro is an upgraded version of TAMA's original clamp that securely holds bass drum hoops of various thicknesses. By attaching rubber to the tip that secures the bass drum hoop, the grip is enhanced, providing strong fixation while minimizing damage to the hoop. Furthermore, because the tip has a three-dimensional movement structure, even in setups where the front of the bass drum is raised extremely high, the tip will fit according to the angle and stabilize the pedal. Moreover, the T-bolt used to tighten the clamp can be operated from the side of the footboard, so the pedal can be attached and detached even while seated on the drum throne.

The Power-Strike Cobra Beater features a newly designed Cobra Beater head with a smaller and thicker felt surface area. This enhances the resonance of the bass drum shell, resulting in a fuller, more resonant sound, while the flatter felt surface emphasizes the attack. The beater head retains its angle adjustment function, and the balance between the distance from the felt tip to the end and the shaft position has been revised to improve control. This successfully delivers a clear, focused sound even at low volumes.
