Description
Description
This time, we have a Venetian (rounded) cutaway guitar produced in 1957. With its slim body and humbucking pickups, it retains the fullness of a 17-inch body while also producing the crisp tone found in other ES models.
【body】
The overall weight is a lightweight 2.8 kg. The pre-1960 Venetian (rounded) cutaway archtop body is constructed of maple and features a hollow construction measuring approximately 432 mm (17 inches) wide and 55.8 mm (2.2 inches) wide at the rim. The beautiful grain on the top, sides, and back of the body is one of its charms. The distinctive tailpiece is engraved with the model name. While the instrument exhibits weather checking, dents, scratches, paint chipping, and tarnish on the gold hardware, it is in excellent condition, reminiscent of a vintage instrument. A strap pin has been added near the neck joint.
【neck】
The neck is a three-piece maple/walnut/maple construction. Like the body, the headstock and back of the neck show weather checking and some minor scratches, revealing a refined grain. The 4th- and 3rd-string tuner knobs are slightly bent and stiff, but still function properly. The scale is a short 596.9mm, a distinctive feature of this model. The frets and nut have been replaced once, showing little wear and excellent playability. The fingerboard radius remains at a solid 10 inches. The nut width is 41.1mm. The neck features a sturdy, slightly triangular shape.
[Electrical system]
The controls are the classic 3-way pickup selector, 2 volume controls, and 2 tone controls. It's nice to see that the pickups, including the original, have been kept in pristine condition. The pickups are narrow-pitch, short-scale pickups, just like the Byrdland. With the characteristic rich response of a Gibson archtop model, this guitar offers everything from sweet jazz guitar tones to clean rock 'n' roll sounds, as evidenced by the artists who use it, making it a highly versatile and appealing instrument. It sounds amazing.
