Description

A carefully selected consignment item: a good old Epiphone archtop guitar has arrived.

Epiphone is now known as a family brand of Gibson, but from the 1930s to the 1950s, they competed fiercely with Gibson, producing some fantastic models, especially in archtop guitars.

This time, we have the Zephyr, a representative model of Epiphone archtop guitars from that era, with modified specs including repositioned pickups and a refinish.

【body】
The overall weight is approximately 2.9 kg. A hole on the back of the body for easy wiring access, covered by the back panel, is a characteristic feature of this period. The original pickup, normally located on the bridge side, has been moved to the front and is now equipped with a circa 1960 Gibson P-90 dog-ear model. The bridge is engraved with the guitar's name. This may have originally been a custom order for this guitarist. While there is some wear to the binding, such as cracks and scratches near the output jack and some tarnish on the metal parts, the guitar remains in relatively good condition. There are signs of a strap pin being added and moved. The control knobs may have been replaced. The original pickguard is missing.

【neck】
The headstock features an attractive bikini badge and weather-checked finish, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The original tuners with the logo remain intact. The tuning peg buttons are slightly worn and there is some inconsistency in the winding, but they currently function properly. The frets and nut are showing signs of wear, and the frets in particular may feel quite low compared to modern guitars, but there is currently no excessive choking. The nut width is 44.0mm. The neck shape is distinctive and sturdy.

[Electrical system]
It features two easy-to-use knobs: a "MASTER VOICER" control (tone) and a "VOLUME" control. The tone capacitor has been replaced with a later Circle D. The pickups are currently equipped with circa 1960 Gibson P-90 dog-ear pickups. Its compatibility with full acoustic guitars has been proven with a variety of guitars, and it offers a clear, lustrous, warm tone. It also has a great resonance, allowing you to enjoy the natural sound at a high enough volume.
