The Salen NX series is a homage from .strandberg* to the timeless classic solid body guitar.
The Salen incorporates most of the features of the original Boden design, adding an unmistakable tip of the cap to the classic solid-body design that has stood strong for nearly 70 years, making it a new modern classic with the successful NX update to the Boden line. A perfect blend of retro classic and cutting-edge innovation, the Salen is both approachable and unashamedly forward-thinking. Classic tonewoods and construction techniques are blended with modern design and cutting-edge features to create a seamless whole.
The Salen NX sparked a musical revolution that continues to this day, and we sought to take that inspiration to a new level in looks, functionality, ergonomics, sound, and playability. With a lightweight headless design, multi-scale funnel frets, patented EndurNeck, and aerospace-grade hardware, it combines all the hallmarks of a Strandberg guitar with a look and sound that evokes a glorious era of guitar-driven music, from classic rock to pop, country, and jazz.
The Salen NX Jazz takes a completely new direction visually and sonically, featuring a chambered mahogany body with a solid maple top, a mahogany neck with a rosewood fretboard, F-holes, and Suhr Thornbucker and Thornbucker II humbuckers. The Salen NX Jazz offers a wide range of clean, low- to medium-gain sounds, and at high gain, it roars like a rock 'n' roll machine. Responding quickly to pick attack and touch, the Salen NX Jazz covers a wide range of electric guitar sounds, from classic to modern, and is suited to a variety of playing styles and musical genres.
Featuring a mahogany body and neck and the classic sound that can only come from a dual humbucker configuration, the Salen NX Jazz is one of the most versatile guitars we've ever made. The Salen Jazz produces a thick, warm, and rich tone with a mid-range emphasis, while maintaining the clarity, definition, responsiveness, and articulation that all our guitars are known for.
The Salen NX Jazz is designed for serious, open-minded players with a wide range of musical tastes, from clean jazz and roots music to earthy blues and hard rock. The natural and trans-burgundy finishes highlight the beauty of mahogany and rosewood, two of the finest tonewoods used in both electric and acoustic guitars.
