Description
Description
In addition to its MXR-sized housing and two knobs, this overdrive booster combines crisp distortion reminiscent of Distortion+ with a transparent, open sound.
As the name suggests, it has a simple configuration consisting of only a distortion section called ``Bite'' that wraps around your picking and a high-power output control called ``Level'' with plenty of room, providing a powerful push from the front end to your existing pedals/amps.
While you can feel the solid gain boost, the Bite Master's sticky, crisp sound character harmonizes with the distortion of the subsequent stages without destroying them, and the high-power output means you don't have to worry about it being drowned out by the ensemble.
This is a unit that Akimatsu Neo was particular about, as it provides two boosts: distortion and volume.
During guitar solos, I would like the distortion to increase, creating a thicker, more sustained tone, and the volume to increase as well.
So people tend to use something like overdrive, but in reality, the sound image gets buried.
If you play alone, it may feel like the volume is louder, but in a band it's different.
If the amp is clean and has a lot of headroom, it's a different story, but if the amp is crunch, it won't get any louder, it will just add more harmonics.
However, this pedal brings the sound forward without being buried, and it doesn't cut off the low frequencies that are common with overdrive pedals.
The guitar volume responds well, and when turned down you get a bell-like clean sound even when the amp is in crunch mode.
I use this effect pedal myself on stage.
