Description

AUTO DELAY - The AUTO series combines classic pedal design with the world of modular synthesis.

Combining classic pedal design with the world of modular synthesis, the AUTO series goes beyond the evolution of audio processing.

With every AUTO series instrument, the nuances of your playing become part of the "sound effect" element. Your selections of TOUCH, DYNAMICS, and NOTE affect the sound, creating tones and textures that respond to your playing and change in real time.

Sound design through the AUTO series will take your musical expression on a journey of discovery and surprise.

Designed for artists seeking their own unique sound, the AUTO series combines intuitive simplicity with depth. Every turn of a knob unlocks a new world of creative and experimental sounds. Dive into the depths of your creativity and discover new sounds that go beyond the ordinary.

AUTO DELAY features three unique and brilliant algorithms that deliver the best sounds from the classic analog and digital delay landscape.

TAPE
It mimics the tone control section, tape saturation, and compression of a vintage tape echo. It intentionally does not emulate the typical wow and flutter effects associated with tape delays; these sounds can be achieved by automating the TIME parameter in various ways.

ANALOG
Recreates the sonic character of high-quality vintage studio bucket brigade (BBD) delays. Automating the TIME parameter while setting the REPEATS level high will give you a classic, warm, pitch-shifted delay tail.

DIGITAL
Used when you want a delayed signal that is exactly the same as the input signal. With the TONE knob set to the center position, you get clear, spectrally accurate repeats, which can be darkened or brightened by automating the tone.

These algorithms allow AUTO DELAY to meet a wide range of music production needs, enabling a wide range of expression from classical to contemporary sounds.

CONTROLS
REPEAT
Determines the number of repeats: at its lowest setting there are no repeats, and at fully clockwise the delay goes into an infinite feedback loop.

TONE
Controls the coloration of all currently playing delay tails. The character of the TONE circuit depends on the selected algorithm.

TIME
Adjust the delay time from 40ms to 2 seconds.

TRACK TEMPO AND PANNING
AUTO Delay takes an innovative approach to tap tempo functionality: TRACK TEMPO. When you hold down both footswitches simultaneously, AUTO Delay uses dynamic tracking to detect the tempo of your strumming and sets the value of the TIME parameter accordingly.

The pedal also offers three stereo panning modes:
・OFF
・50%
・100% (ping pong)
This allows you to add a wide range of spatial effects to your sound.

Finding the sweet spot
Each of the four main knobs has a corresponding small modulation knob (attenuverter), allowing you to adjust the amount and direction of modulation for each effect knob. This allows you to modulate the value in any direction, + or -, according to the input level. From subtle parameter changes to bold modulation, find your own unique nuances.

Customize your modulation with the Dynamics and Pitch knobs and dedicated Mode switch. Adjust the decay time of the dynamics, add glide to the pitch tracking, or shape the response to suit your playing style and desired modulation effect.

By pressing both footswitches, you can set the pitch of the played note as the threshold. For example, if you set A3 as the threshold, PITCH modulation will only be active when it exceeds A3. Similarly, you can adjust the threshold for dynamics. Modulation will only occur when the input is louder than the set value. With simple operations, you can create unique modulations as you like.

Automation Basics Each pedal features two onboard automation sources that generate automation signals based on specific parameters of your performance.

Dynamics engine: follows your instrument's volume, picking strength and overall playing dynamics.
Pitch engine: follows the note selection and the overall timbre of the instrument.

Using a simple patchbay interface, you can route these automation sources to the four main effect knobs.

Each pedal also features four corresponding small knobs (attenuators) that determine the amount and direction of the automation signal.

The AUTO footswitch engages the full automation section, allowing you to easily switch from standard effect modes to pre-routed automation settings. For shaping automation, you can precisely calibrate both the dynamics and pitch tracking engines, indicated by LED lights in the patchbay.

Additionally, you can customize automation with the dynamics and pitch knobs, as well as dedicated switches with three different modes on either side of the automation, allowing you to tailor the response curve to suit your playing style and desired automation effect.

This feature gives you a wide range of touch-sensitive effects that are orchestrated in real time by the nuances of your playing.

From subtle and sophisticated settings to ambitious experimental sounds, the AUTO series is a platform offering endless possibilities.

IN/OUT - Stereo and mono compatible
TS Cable (L/MONO): For mono input (TS) and mono output (TS).

Single TS Input to Dual TS Output: Dry input is output to both output channels.

Single TS input to stereo TRS output: Dry input is routed to both output channels.

TRS Stereo Input (R/TRS): For stereo input to stereo output (TRS).

Dual TS or TRS stereo inputs to mono output: Dry input is mixed to the mono output.

Calibration and Input Levels Calibrating Center Pitch: Press and hold ON to set the center pitch.

Dynamics Threshold Calibration: Press and play AUTO to set a midpoint value. These calibrations are saved until new values are added.

Input Level Switch: Varies internal headroom to ensure optimal performance at different signal levels. Output jack follows input level. Can be set to Instrument (4Vpp max), Line (8Vpp max), or Eurorack (12.5Vpp max) level.

Dynamics Mode Dynamics Threshold Calibration: Press and play to set the midpoint.

FAST mode: Follows the attack of the input signal as soon as it crosses the dynamics threshold. This mode is useful for automation that directly follows the dynamics of a performance.

SLOW mode: Gradually follows the dynamics of the performance. This is useful for gradually changing parameter values even when the dynamics of the performance change rapidly.

GATE mode: No control signal is output when the input signal is below the dynamics threshold, and maximum control signal is output when the input signal exceeds the threshold. This mode is useful for instantly changing effect parameters without attack or decay times.

Pitch Mode Center Pitch Calibration: Press and hold ON to set the center pitch.

NOTE Mode: Dials in a control voltage that responds only to a specific note range. With the PITCH knob in the center position, a center-pitch note generates full-strength control voltage, and all other notes generate zero control voltage.

V/OCT mode: Depending on the note selection, when you play a note above the center pitch, the automation output generates a positive control voltage. The higher the note, the stronger the control voltage. When you play a center pitch note, the automation output is 0 volts, meaning no automation occurs.

TONE mode: Unlike V/OCT and NOTE modes, this mode analyzes the entire frequency spectrum and, instead of detecting exact pitch, detects the overall tone of the input signal and outputs control voltages accordingly. This mode is useful for creating automation based on general pitch ranges and the overall color of the tone. It can detect differences between the neck and bridge pickups on a guitar, or the position of the tone knob.

Automation Mode
AUTO Footswitch: Activates the entire automation section.

PARAMETER AUTOMATION knob: Determines the direction and strength of routed automation. Also acts as an attenuator, allowing fine control over pitch, dynamics, and parameter behavior.

SUM mode: The control voltage generated by the automation output is added to the parameter value. The small PARAMETER AUTOMATION knob determines the direction and amount that the control voltage is added to the parameter value.

ALT MODE: Changes the function of the small PARAMETER AUTOMATION knob to an alternate parameter value. When the AUTO footswitch is engaged, the small PARAMETER AUTOMATION knob replaces the main parameter knob.

EXT MODE: Route an external control voltage signal to automate PARAMETERS and modify them with external modulation signals: DYNAMICS and PITCH.

Effect Level IN WET MIX
IN mode: The LEVEL knob determines the volume of the signal sent to the effect. The dry signal is always at full volume.

WET mode: As in IN mode, the LEVEL knob determines the volume of the signal sent to the effect, but the dry sound is removed from the mix.

MIX MODE: The LEVEL knob determines the mix of dry and wet signals: counterclockwise is dry only, center is equal dry and wet signals, clockwise is wet only.

AUTO SPLITTER AND TRACKING
AUTO SPLITTER: Can be placed at any point in the signal chain to provide a tracking input signal.

TRACK IN: Route a clean guitar or other instrument signal for DYNAMICS and PITCH analysis. Effects are applied to the main AUDIO INPUT signal only. TRACK IN is a 3.5mm (1/8'') TRS socket - Track signal insert (L/R)

TRACK OUT: Passes the TRACK IN signal through for routing to another AUTO Series pedal or elsewhere. TRACK OUT is a 3.5mm (1/8'') TRS L/R output or track signal buffer output.

When TRACK IN is not in use: TRACK OUT outputs the dry mono or stereo AUDIO INPUT. TRACK IN can also be used when nothing is connected to the main AUDIO INPUTS. This is useful for integrating AUTO Series pedals into a Eurorack synthesizer setup without adapter cables.
