Description
Description
Although the Ibanez(R) TS808 TubeScreamer(R) was used as the starting point for development, this pedal is more than just a TS clone.
The original TubeScreamer's distinctive sound established it as a classic legend in the rock guitar world. Its mid-focused voicing, low-gain drive, and clean signal touch made it the perfect choice for pushing a driven amp, allowing guitar players to make their solos stand out. However, when the guitar volume was turned down or playing with a soft touch, the sound tended to become thin and muffled. Classic pedals tended to have this "all-or-nothing" characteristic, which meant we needed to have multiple separate pedals to achieve various saturation levels.
The newly added ADAPT function on the ORIGIN EFFECTS Halcyon Green Overdrive gradually fades out the mid-range voicing as you turn down the guitar volume to create a clean sound, giving you the classic TS808 tone, while still clearly revealing the guitar's inherent clean tone. You can bring out the best in this pedal's sound by controlling the guitar's volume and varying picking strength.
O - Vintage TS808
This mode does not use the adaptive circuit, recreating the realistic sound of the vintage TS808.
II - Full Adaptive
This mode makes full use of the adaptive circuitry. When you lower the guitar volume or pick softly, the tone and drive are softened, while still maintaining a clear, crisp sound.
I - less adaptive than II
It responds similarly to Position II in terms of volume and dynamics, but also reduces the bass and treble slightly, keeping the low end tighter and preventing excessive feedback when using high-gain sounds.
*To fully understand the effect of the adaptive circuit, first play your guitar at a moderate volume with the switch in position O, then gradually reduce the attack as you play. Once the sound has softened to a clean tone, change the adaptive circuit to position II or I and check the sound, which will allow you to understand how the adaptive circuit works.
Despite being the simplest pedal, the Halcyon Green Overdrive has many features that go beyond those of the original pedal, including two ADAPT settings, a DRY level control to mix in a clean signal, and a choice of VOICE settings.
Choose 808 for the classic TS808 sound, or MOD for a brighter, more present sound—perfect for tightening up high-gain tones or adding bite to humbuckers.
808
A classic voicing setting for a soft mid-boosted vintage TS sound.
MOD
This voicing setting adds clarity and bite to humbucker guitars, creating a brighter, more present sound.
Other controls
DRIVE
Controls the amount of overdrive.
If your amp is already heavily distorted, set it to a low drive setting and turn it on as a booster when soloing.
When using with a clean amplifier, setting the adaptive circuit to position I or II will produce a more natural effect than with a typical drive pedal.
LEVEL
Controls the output level.
If the drive control is set high, set it lower.
TONE
Controls the high end of the sound. At low settings, it produces a warm sound that matches lead guitar, while at high settings it produces a bright sound that is ideal for cutting guitar.
When the adaptive circuit is set to I or II, the effect of the tone control decreases as the guitar volume decreases.
DRY
Adjusts the mix of clean signal.
At 12 o'clock, it's set to the same as a vintage Tube Screamer.
Turning it clockwise will maintain a clear, detailed sound with a full body even when used with a drive amplifier. Conversely, when using the Halcyon Green Overdrive as a normal overdrive with a clean amplifier, we recommend turning it counterclockwise.
