Description
Description
The Umbrella Company "Hitchhike Drive" is an overdrive/preamp inspired by vintage American tweed amplifiers.
You can choose from three amplifier modes (D/T/B).
By adjusting the GAIN knob, you can create a wide range of sounds, from a preamp-like boost, to a mild crunch, to a cranked top boost.
Furthermore, emphasis is placed on response to guitar volume control, providing a comfortable amp feel.
The Saturate switch allows you to turn on/off the dynamic filter function (which applies mild compression to only the high frequencies).
The characteristic saturation of a vacuum tube amplifier can be made to follow the picking strength and dynamics of your playing.
1. D Mode This mode captures the raw tone and gain structure of the tweed-era Deluxe amps. At the top boost (GAIN 12/TB), you get an organic, intense drive sound that makes the compact amp's box vibrate. Furthermore, by adjusting the guitar's volume and picking strength, you can achieve a bluesy crunch or boost without compromising the sound's clarity.
2. T mode
This amp-like sound has the deep presence of a Twin amp. At high gain settings, it produces a lustrous overdrive sound reminiscent of American rock, while at low gain settings it functions as a stunning clean booster. In combination with the Saturate switch, it adds the mildness and compression characteristic of a tube amp. The clean tone has a lush tone that makes chords ring out with excellent separation.
3. B mode
This mode has higher gain than T mode and is characterized by a sound with an emphasized presence in the mid-low range. At lower gain settings, it smoothly transitions from a natural clean to a crunch, while at higher gain settings it produces a bluesy, pleasant overdrive sound. When combined with the dynamic filter (Saturate switch), it produces a three-dimensional, crisp tone.
