Since its founding in 1982, MAYONES (also known as Mayones) has gained popularity in Europe and the US for its unique lineup and reliable quality. Its user list includes a number of top players, including Hadrien Feraud, Mohini Dey (a B'z tour member), Nathan Navarro, and Federico Malaman.
The Jabba model in the Mayones lineup features a refined style and sound of the JB and 24 frets.
The top of this instrument is made from master-grade koa, a rare material with dense curly grain. Pieces with pronounced grain, like this one, are especially popular for a variety of woodworking projects, including acoustic guitars, ukuleles, and high-end furniture. Smaller pieces are also used for knife handles.
The back is made of alder, and the 34.25-inch single-piece maple neck is slightly longer than the standard JB model, with an optional ebony fingerboard, optional white pearl block position marks and white neck binding.The headstock is made of the same core material as the body, and it also has a clear pickguard and Mayones' original Velvtron pickups.
By combining alder, which has a firm mid-range, with core and ebony, the sound has good attack and clarity, and picking nuances are accurately converted into sound.Even when the EQ is boosted, it does not become unpleasant, and you can create a comfortable, usable sound that can be used in an ensemble.
The 19mm string spacing at the bridge, the slightly thin neck grip, and the slightly low string height provide a comfortable playing feel that will be useful for bassists who play across the fingerboard from low to high notes, or who play chords and mellow obbligatos.
In addition, the unit's preamp can be switched between a 9V battery and a rechargeable battery, and it even has a headphone jack and AUX in, so you can easily practice at hotels during your tour without needing any other equipment.
Although there are some minor scratches and some dullness on parts, there are no noticeable dents and it is in relatively good condition.
There is plenty of room for the truss rod and the neck is in good condition.
The original ebony finger lamps have been removed but are included.
