Description

The Muffuletta is a fuzz/distortion pedal that lets you experience the sounds of many historic Big Muffs, as well as JHS Pedals' special Big Muff sound, all in one unit.

In 1967, Mike Matthews and Bob Meyer began experimenting with sustainer effect circuits for electric guitar. This was the beginning of a legend. By early 1969, the circuit was perfected, resulting in one of the most revered, collected, and legendary pedals in the history of guitar effects.
Over the next 50 years, over 30 variations of this pedal were produced, and the pedal, named Big Muff, became a pioneer in pioneering eras and sounds, creating a wide range of tones.
Muffuletta is a tribute to great, historically significant legendary effects. Experience the sounds and eras that legendary circuits have created all at once.

The Muffuletta offers a choice of six Big Muff tones, recreating five classic Big Muff circuits plus an all-new, original JHS version.
Needless to say, no digital signal processing or digital emulation is used, and the product is produced using completely analog circuits.
When you select a model, the circuit will be selected to match the components used in the actual circuit of the model from each era. The five historical models included in Muffuletta are particularly popular and have been selected from JHS Pedals' favorite models.
Recreate the classic Big Muff sound with one easy-to-use compact pedal. With Muffuletta, you don't have to deal with rare, expensive, bulky pedals with lost screws, misaligned pots, and constant care to avoid breaking or scratching them.

The Muffuletta has four knobs: Volume, Tone, Sustain, and Mode. The Volume knob adjusts the volume, just like most effects pedals. The Tone control brightens or darkens the tone. The Sustain control is similar to a Gain or Drive control, controlling the intensity of distortion. The Mode control is a six-position rotary switch that allows you to select from six Big Muff sounds.

●JHS: This is the sound of a JHS Muff made in 2015. This mode is JHS's interpretation of the classic Big Muff circuit, and it offers the most powerful tone with the least compression and an impressive midrange. This mode is also ideal for bass guitar.

●73 Rams Head: This is a reproduction of the Big Muff from the second period, known as the Rams Head, which was produced between 1973 and 1977. The logo on the bottom right of the original pedal resembled a sheep's head, hence the name Rams Head. The circuit is called V2. It features a cut midrange, low gain, and a dark tone, making it a pedal favored by many artists.

●The Triangle: This model recreates the earliest Big Muff models, which were produced for a short period from 1969 to 1970. Models from this period were called the Triangle because of the three knobs arranged in a triangular shape. The circuit is called V1. It features a strong low-end response and a clear tone.

●The Pi: This version is known for its famous π logo and two-tone black/red housing. This design was also used in the reissue version released in 2000. The original is a model from the era known as the third period, but this mode in particular produces the tone of an early model from that period, made around 1977-1978. The circuit is from the V3 period. (Third period models were later upgraded to the IC period, which led to later models.) It is known for its aggressive, thick tone.

The Russian: This is a reproduction of the Big Muff produced in Russia between 1999 and 2009, when it was labeled "Made in Russia." Its exterior features a low-profile black housing typical of Russian-made pedals, and its circuitry is from the V8 era. It's known for its subdued low end and clarity, distortion-like tone, and its compatibility with bass.

●The Civil War: This is a reproduction of one of the earliest Russian-made Big Muffs, produced between 1991 and 1993. The circuit is a V7. This model features a unique gray exterior design with green printing. It was named the Civil War because the combination of navy and gray evoked the American Civil War, as later models featured a gray body with navy printing. Models from this period are characterized by a strong midrange, low gain, and a bright tone.

Every Big Muff model has been loved by guitarists and top artists around the world. There is no other pedal with as many variations and as many beloved pedals.
The Muffuletta combines a variety of variations from each era into a single pedal. Many guitarists will find their favorite mode, and it's sure to be a pedal you'll want to play forever.
