Description
Description
Amp EQ settings optimized for fingerstyle and pizzicato don't match well when you switch to more percussive playing techniques like chopping and slapping. This is because the percussive playing techniques can make certain mid-range frequencies harsh and crunchy. The Funkulator is designed to cut harsh and unpleasant frequencies while slightly boosting the low and high frequencies to instantly achieve a smooth, modern, high-fidelity slap tone.
Of course, the Funkulator isn't just for chopping or slapping. It produces a smoother, more hi-fidelity tone when used with fingerstyle, and the sound becomes more metallic when played with a pick. Try combining it with your favorite distortion/overdrive pedal and you're sure to discover new sounds.
The Funkulator's operation is extremely simple, with only an on/off switch and a single EQ control. Facing the front, the jack on the right is the input, and the jack on the left is the output. Connect a shielded 1/4" phone plug cable. When the on/off switch is turned on, the LED lights up yellow. (The "FUNKULATOR" letters are always lit, so even when the circuit is off, the LED appears dim red.) Simply adjust the EQ control while playing to find the perfect setting. Turning the EQ control clockwise will reduce the midrange and slightly increase the bass and treble.
There is some wear and tear overall, but there are no problems with operation.
