Description
Description
GRACE design BiX is a compact preamplifier designed specifically for acoustic instruments, inheriting the excellent sound quality and functionality of its higher-end models FELiX and ALiX.
The compact body features a studio-quality preamp circuit, high and low EQ, boost and mute functions, send and return for external effects, and a DI output (XLR).
The power supply is a 9VDC type, making it pedalboard friendly.
GRACE design's unique high-quality sound design, which can reproduce the sound and touch of a live instrument without any loss, conveys the ``entire resonance and expression'' of your instrument.
◆ High-quality sound from a high-end model reproduced in a compact size
GRACE design's FELiX and ALiX quickly became the most trusted professional preamps for acoustic instruments among many touring and recording musicians. Their previously unattainable high-level sound quality and delicate expressiveness have taken sound creation to a new level for many players, including acoustic guitar, violin, cello, banjo, and bass guitar.
And now that lineage has been passed on to the little BiX.
The same high-quality sound as the higher-end models is housed in a compact housing with simple controls (input gain, high & low EQ, 10dB booster, boost & mute footswitch), and is powered by an effects board-friendly 9VDC (center negative). In addition to send & return terminals for effects, a balanced XLR line output (DI OUT) is also included as standard.
Its ability to reproduce the full resonance and touch of acoustic instruments, as well as its clear and quiet sound quality, is on par with its higher-end models, FELiX and ALiX. Its unique capabilities include smooth and open high frequencies, beautifully deep low frequencies, and an extremely high headroom achieved by its 30VDC internal voltage.
It delivers a whole new dimension of acoustic instrument amplification by realistically and vividly conveying your instrument's inherent dynamics and tone.
◆ Simple EQ section and boost & mute footswitch Simple EQ section and boost & mute footswitch Top quality design for professional audio quality, EQ design that emphasizes the original sound allows for accurate correction while preserving the original sound of acoustic instruments.
The frequency settings can be changed using DIP switches for the high and low frequency sections (high frequency = 2kHz or 4kHz, low frequency = 100Hz or 200Hz), allowing for flexible settings to suit the type of instrument.
BiX also features two footswitches. The BOOST footswitch activates a variable boost of up to 10dB set by the BOOST knob when engaged. The MUTE footswitch mutes the amp output (unbalanced) and DI output (XLR balanced) when engaged (the FX loop send output is not muted, so it can also be used as a tuner output). When both boost and mute are engaged, an LED lights up, allowing you to visually confirm the settings.
◆ Comprehensive input/output configuration including high-quality DI output
BiX is equipped with inputs and outputs that support a variety of professional signal routing needs, including a 10M ohm high-impedance instrument input (configurable to 1M ohm with a special cable), an amplifier output (standard phone unbalanced), and FX send and return jacks (both standard phone jacks) for connecting external effects (the insert point is just before the boost circuit).
Furthermore, BiX is equipped with a transformer-isolated, high-quality DI output (XLR balanced) terminal. This allows you to send a line output with the excellent, high-speed sound quality that only GRACE design can provide to PA or recording equipment. It is also great for use as a high-end DI at live concerts.
◆ Compatible with 9VDC power, ideal for pedal boards Compatible with 9VDC power, ideal for pedal boards
While the GRACE design FELiX and ALiX are AC powered, the compact BiX runs on the same 9VDC power supply as most guitar pedals/effects, making it more pedalboard friendly.
*A DC9V (200mA or more, center negative) AC adapter, commonly used for guitar effects, can be used (included).
◆ Robust and functional product design The clear panel layout and color scheme make it easy to see even on a dark stage.
For example, the signal/clip indicator, which uses the color of the LED to determine the signal status at a glance, allows you to visually understand the sound on stage.
The BiX is built in the same sturdy aluminum and steel construction as its larger sister models (professional grade, designed to withstand the rigors of touring), delivering high-end studio quality without compromising portability.
