This model is made from the popular "Red Hickory," a hickory wood selection unique to Los Cabos, and is finished in black except for the tip.
Los Cabos, a stick manufacturer based in Brunswick, Canada's east coast, was founded in 2005 and has since become known for using high-quality wood. Their products are now sold worldwide.
Red Hickory is made from the dark center of the hickory tree, meaning it is the oldest part of the tree, which makes it denser, more durable and flexible. It is ideal for hard hitters or those looking for more power without changing stick size.
The color of red hickory varies depending on the mineral content of the soil where the tree grows. For this reason, no manufacturer has traditionally used it for drumsticks. In fact, this model features a variety of sticks in colors ranging from light tan to a beautiful deep brown. At Los Cabos, we offer this wide range of colors because each stick looks unique and because of the benefits mentioned above.
The Red Hickory series was nominated for a top three spot in the drumstick category at the 2011 MIPA Awards at the Frankfurt MESSE (an award selected by votes from over 100 music magazines worldwide).
