Four years after the release of the PLAYdifferently MODEL 1 mixer, which has since received critical acclaim and awards for its features, expandability, and sound quality, we are now introducing the MODEL 1.4, a compact four-channel design that delivers an unparalleled analog experience with a no-compromise approach.
Designed by Andy Rigby-Jones, developer of the Allen & Heath XONE series and MODEL 1, and co-designed by Richie Hawtin with feedback from artists, clubs and engineers, MODEL 1.4 is built with the same quality and comprehensive feature set as MODEL 1.
"The MODEL 1 was born from our desire to develop a new type of DJ mixer that is more like an instrument, offering a level of control and quality that inspires creativity," says Richie Hawtin. "We've always felt that a compact version of the MODEL 1 would be particularly useful in the home studio and better suited for streaming from a home booth. The MODEL 1.4 is a 4-channel, miniaturized version of the MODEL 1, offering an affordable price without compromising on the purity of design and components, making it the perfect product for home use, small booths, or on tour."
Despite its ¥300,000 price tag, the MODEL 1.4 offers no compromises. Sharing the MODEL 1's 100% analog design, the MODEL 1.4 is also manufactured in the UK and features four stereo channels, two stereo send and return channels, two mix out outputs, and two high-performance phono preamps. Each channel also features its own high-pass and low-pass filters, precision SCULPT EQ, and analog overdrive circuitry.
The MODEL 1.4 also features two independent cue systems, D-Sub I/O for easy connection to high-end sound cards, and a mixer link system that allows you to link multiple PLAYdifferently mixers, offering maximum expandability for artists with creativity and ambition.
