A compact sampler with 12 pads for instant play.

The SP-404 is a compact sampler with 12 pads that can play loop/one-shot sounds. Its maximum polyphony has also been expanded to 12 voices, allowing for a wide variety of sound combinations.
The unit can store up to 24 samples (12 samples x 2 banks) with a total duration of approximately 5 minutes (MONO, Standard mode). When an optional CompactFlash card is installed, an additional 96 samples (12 samples x 8 banks) can be used, allowing for a total of up to 120 different samples to be used. This enables the use of a wide variety of samples in performances and other applications.

Supports long sampling times thanks to the use of CompactFlash.
The SP-404, by employing CompactFlash (sold separately) as its storage medium, can easily handle long sampling sessions at high quality. With a 1GB CompactFlash card installed, it achieves a sampling time of approximately 386 minutes (MONO, Standard mode).
Furthermore, the audio file import/export function allows for the exchange of .WAV/AIFF files with a PC via CompactFlash. You can export SP-404 samples as audio files for editing on your PC, or import audio files imported from commercially available sampling CDs to your PC into the SP-404.
Sampling with the SP-404 unit is possible not only through line input and microphone jack input, but also through the built-in microphone. This allows for immediate sampling and playback on the spot.

Includes 29 different effects.
The SP-404 features high-quality effects that can be controlled in real time using the control knobs. In addition to all 26 effects that were featured in the popular SP-303, known for its variety and extreme sounds, it includes 3 new effects, for a total of 29 effects.
The new "SUBSONIC" effect allows you to add a sine wave only to low-frequency sounds such as kick drums, creating powerful, deep bass. The "BPM LOOPER" is a short looper that is linked to the BPM, allowing you to short-loop samples at any position in eighth-note increments.
Furthermore, in addition to the short loop function, "DJFX LOOPER" allows you to control reverse playback with a knob. You can create turntable scratch-like sounds in real time.
Furthermore, the SP-404 allows you to adjust the dry/wet balance of the effect sound with spatial effects such as "DELAY." It can also be used as an effects unit by connecting it to the send/return terminals of a DJ mixer.
Furthermore, 19 of the 29 types of effects now feature a newly added limiter mode that softens the effect's intensity. Turning this mode ON allows for smoother effect processing, providing peace of mind during DJing and live performances.

Equipped with a pattern sequencer
The SP-404 features a pattern sequencer with quantization capabilities that allows for real-time loop recording. You can instantly create patterns by hitting the pads. It can store up to 24 patterns in the unit itself and up to 96 patterns on a CompactFlash card, making it suitable for both music production and full-fledged live performances.
Furthermore, the display illumination in the center of the SP-404 unit flashes blue in sync with the BPM when the pattern sequencer is operating. This allows for BPM confirmation and also provides a visual effect in dark booths or on stages.

Completely redesigned. Pads and knobs with improved operability.
The SP-404 features a completely redesigned compact sampler, specifically intended to be placed next to turntables and DJ mixers. It incorporates a robust metallic panel, large illuminated pads and switches, a 7-segment LED display for excellent visibility of BPM and parameter values, and a blue flashing display illumination, blending operability with a stylish design.
Furthermore, the pads, which are the most frequently used during performance, have a slightly higher surface than the SP-303 to improve the feel when pressed. These newly designed pads provide a more reliable tactile feedback. In addition, the knobs used for real-time control of effects and other functions have been redesigned to be less slippery and easier to operate.

Two-way operation: AC adapter powered or battery powered.
The SP-404 can be powered by the included AC adapter, or by six AA batteries. This allows for use in locations without AC power, enabling sampling in a variety of settings. It's also ideal for use on stages and DJ booths where power sources are scarce.
