This long version of the high-rigidity record cartridge mounting screw/nut/washer set eliminates rattle and looseness between the headshell and cartridge, contributing to improved sound quality.
Overview When playing records, the cartridge is the gateway to sound, and choosing the right cartridge is one of the joys of being an analog audio fan. However, even if you go to the trouble of buying a cartridge, if the screws are not properly selected or installed, you will not be able to fully utilize its performance.
For example, standard aluminum screws have low rigidity and are not ideal for sound quality. Also, with conventional attachments using only screws and nuts, the screws tend to spin freely and become loose, causing the cartridge to rattle and come loose.
The SCR-L was developed to solve this problem and provide a better record life. By using the SCR-L, you can securely attach your cartridge and maximize its performance.
■Features of SCR-L
1) Screws/Nuts The screws/nuts are made of highly rigid brass and plated with 24K gold, enhancing corrosion resistance while adding a touch of luxury to the cartridge. Additionally, a gold-plated layer with a different hardness from the brass disperses the vibration modes inherent to the material. The screws are flat-head screws, which are easier to tighten and less prone to stripping than Phillips screws. The nuts feature a non-slip knurling, making it easier to press the nut down when tightening and reducing the risk of the screw spinning. The outer diameter of the screw/nut is a small 4mm, which minimizes damage to the cartridge and is compatible with headshells that have a counterbore for screw head insertion.
2) Carbon Graphite Nylon Washer: A key component of the SCR-L is the industry's first carbon graphite nylon washer, a new material. This washer combines the properties of both metal and resin, providing just the right amount of slippage and cushioning, reducing screw slippage and enabling stronger tightening. This enhances adhesion between the cartridge and headshell, eliminating cartridge rattle, which can degrade sound quality. The washer's outer diameter of 4.7mm is larger than the outer diameter of the screw head/nut, increasing the contact area with the cartridge/headshell. By distributing the screw bearing surface pressure, deformation and depression around the cartridge are reduced, making the screw less likely to loosen.
3) Screw length Two lineups are available: [SCR-S] with screw lengths of 6/8/10mm, and [SCR-L] with screw lengths of 12/14/17mm.
You can purchase the product that matches your cartridge/headshell without any waste.
