Description

Born in 1960, the Hummingbird™ has earned its place in history as one of the most special and beloved models in acoustic guitar history. The newly released Hummingbird Special is meticulously crafted by Gibson's skilled luthiers at the Bozeman, Montana factory, and is a USA-made Gibson acoustic guitar offered at a very attractive price.

The Hummingbird Special features a traditional square-shoulder body, with solid mahogany for the sides and back, and solid Sitka spruce for the top. The body top utilizes Gibson's traditional scalloped X-bracing. This wood combination delivers a warm, balanced tone with exceptional dynamic range, making it suitable for any musical genre. The concert depth, a thinner body width than the Hummingbird Standard, provides a tight, well-defined low-end response that stands out in mixes with other instruments, while also making it more comfortable to hold while playing. The urea wood neck is joined to the body using a dovetail joint and glued with hide glue, just like other Gibson acoustic guitars. The neck features a comfortable round profile, and the 12-inch radius fingerboard is made of rosewood. Furthermore, the fretboard features pearloid parallelogram inlays, an inseparable visual element of the Hummingbird, and has a standard 20-fret configuration. The Gibson traditional belly-up style rosewood bridge is equipped with TUSQ(R) saddles, and the nut and bridge pins are also TUSQ(R) products. In addition, high-quality Grover(R) Rotomatic(R) tuners ensure stable tuning. The pickguard features a simplified design of the world-famous hummingbird graphic of the Hummingbird. The Hummingbird Special is available in satin vintage cherry sunburst or satin wine red, both in satin nitrocellulose lacquer. Equipped with an LR Baggs Element Bronze undersaddle piezo pickup and active preamp, and with volume control easily operated from the side of the soundhole, you can enjoy playing it on stage or in the studio the moment you take it out of the included premium softshell case.
